Time to make a bucket list?

On December 21, 2012 - where will you be?

In this day and age of rapid paced media, I find myself faced with a barrage of doomsday scenarios correlating to the year 2012. If it isn't comets crashing into the planet, the earth shifting on its axis, tidal waves, nuclear war, particle accelerators creating black holes, pandemics, planet X and a morbid assortment of mega disasters, its dire predictions from the Mayan calendar, Nostradamus,
Edgar Cayce, the bible, astrologers, and various religious leaders all telling us to prepare for the end. And have you noticed in recent years how many survival shows are being produced? Survivor Man, Man vs Wild, Survivor, and The Colony just to name a few. Are we being prepared for whats to come? Does our government know something we don't know?

In the year 2009, with the clock ticking ever closer to 2012 I am confused. Are we all on death row and blindly hoping all the signs and predictions are wrong?

These days I feel much like a man who has been diagnosed with cancer and been given less than 3 years to live...I don't know whether to start compiling my bucket list and travel and take one last look at our world, start stocking up on survival supplies, build a safe room or just cross my fingers and believe this Earth will be granted some sort of divine global remission.

I started this topic because I don't believe I am alone in feeling confused about our impending future. With that being said, what do you believe? How will you prepare? Will you prepare?

On December 21, 2012 - where will you be?

Joan, I applaud you. While the plastic ta-ta's, botox stuff doesn't really bother me---there's an energy that is just absolutely stifling lately. It oozes from the tv, from lights, there's a lot of fear out there as well.
Growing our food, and medicine---imo is huge.
(especially the medicine part)

"And thanks AW .. being in Florida .. you and I both have a lot of hurricane war stories..and after Katrina.. we don't trust the government to bring us food or water.
"
After Hurricane Andrew in 92, the Miami Dade area went without for MANY, MANY weeks even into months. I learned, even though I was a mere 40 miles north of there, that we were woefully unprepared. Seeing the huge swath of homes totally and completely destroyed, the lack of ANY services, including law enforcement---made me realize that preparedness is key.

[Im still not giving up my water and canned goods :P We are still in hurricane season here]

Fair point. All we have to contend with is rain in the UK so I guess I wasn't accounting for Florida's rather more dramatic climate.

Thanks Ron .. rocks hurt lol Glad I'm not dodging them here.. I save all my rocks for the HOA :)
And thanks AW .. being in Florida .. you and I both have a lot of hurricane war stories..and after Katrina.. we don't trust the government to bring us food or water.
Ron in my comment about having obsessions for stock piling etc. It made me edgy too ..Im normally a glass half full kind of person. I have never been an obsessive person and when these feelings were overwhelming me, I had to question why and ask if other people were experiencing the same feelings/ dreams/ intuitions.

Most people might conclude they are probably media driven.. but at the time that these dreams and feelings started, I didn't even know about the predictions for 2012. And like I said before.. I hate guns with a passion .. so where did that need to have one come from? I live in a very low crime area (except for the HOA and their pesticides:)
Im not afraid of dying .. and Joan was right .. the older I get .. the less afraid of dying I become.
Thats why I'm so confused about the feelings that were bombarding me out of nowhere... they are just so unlike me.
I was looking for a type of cosmic trend for lack of better words.. seeing if there was some unseen force sending out a warning through dreams/ intuition / premonitions to preserve the human race.

Im still not giving up my water and canned goods :P We are still in hurricane season here.

[I will be happily growing my own pesticide free organic vegetables in our little cabin in the woods up until then. Isn't that getting back to nature and getting off of the grid and going back to basics?]

I really wasn't throwing rocks. Getting back to basics is exactly what I think we should be doing. But you were the one who said that stockpiling cans had become obsessive and that you had considered buying a gun. I read into that an indication that you might be feeling more than a little edgy.

I'm suggesting that these are things we should be doing anyway (not the gun... the back-to-basics). I am concerned about people feeling a sense of dread. I'm not judging it any more than I would judge anyone's pain but I am concerned about it. If I've misread the posts, then my concern is unfounded.

But, yes I do feel that getting back to basics can only improve our lives and will give us more confidence to face challenges. I also prefer lemonade to lemons :o)

"Ouch.. I'm not being negative here Ron, I just spoke honestly about what has been happening to me. Not saying the world is going to end in 2012, and if it does, I will be happily growing my own pesticide free organic vegetables in our little cabin in the woods up until then. Isn't that getting back to nature and getting off of the grid and going back to basics?
And if you have ever lived through a hurricane .. can goods and water will save your life.
If 2012 only serves to make us stop procrastinating and start living our dreams of a healthier lifestyle now, then we've made lemons into lemonade. "

I couldn't agree more with you. There are already those taking notice of shortages, and when I get home, I'll try to find the energy to look for an interesting article I stumbled acros a while ago---regarding the stockpiling of canned goods by our governement--hmmm, lol!

And with what has already gone on with our food supply...
I saw what happened after so called minimal hurricanes here in Florida during 2004 and 2005. Food shortages, gas shortages never mind the basics being available--like electricity and water.
I had an interesting discussion with an FPL customer service agent---she said, "the handwriting is on the wall, people should be planning for extended outages (8 - 12+ weeks minimally) without basic services, or the availability of basic supplies.
Hurricane Wilma, billed as a Cat1, decimated certain areas. There are STILL areas waiting for insurance payouts on damaged homes and condos. We could not find a grocery store with basics for almost a week after Wilma.
Never again.
Appreciating your comments and experiences Holly!

"Giovanni,
To me this is neither fear or paranoia... only understanding."

That's my take on what I'm reading, as well. I think we all naturally seek that which will provide us with what we need, be it "protection," "escape," we seek it, almost at times unconsciously. I read now, more of a conscious seeking of where we will thrive, regardless of anything coming or not.

" But, I've felt things most of my life before they happened. I didn't make them happen, I just knew they were going to occur (deaths/calling someone I haven't spoken to in 17 years because I know they're in trouble?. My SO thinks I over react , but he could give you many examples. I do try to spend my time wisely. In fact, helping at hospice has given me much more time to analyze and categorize my thoughts. I am there for selfish reasons. Trust me, I'm no saint! :) The older I become, the less afraid I am to die. Is this normal, guys?"

Yes, of course it's normal. I too have had "feelings," and other whatshamacallits, and I know now to trust what I get. I don't sense fear at all from you---a desire to understand and to be prepared to be and do whatever you can.
Blessings, Joan!
