WORD FOR THE DAY(gratefulness.org)
Sunday, Nov. 1

The greatest gift one can give is thanksgiving.
In giving gifts, we give what we can spare,
but in giving thanks we give ourselves.

Thanks RJ. We have to take the good with the bad, and keep keeping on.....

We are never more than one grateful thought away from peace of heart.

A friend of my died recently--a heroin overdose. He was very miserable, and just did not seek help. I am grateful to have known him and to have been a friend. This gratitude is a key for me to not go to misery myself over someone else's diseased choice. There is a power greater than us all, that can make sense of it, I just need to accept this reality.

Best to all,
Mike

It is a miracle that we are alive today, and participating in living....

The spirit of gratitude is always pleasant and satisfying because it carries with it a sense of helpfulness to others; it begets love and friendship, and engenders divine influence.

When one expects little, one is constantly grateful for and amazed by the enormous volume of Being one receives. Modesty, gratefulness, contentment and happyness travel the Path together.

I rather speak from my own experience, but at times, and I'm sure more often others say it so much better. Thusly I offer this ....

"The challenges are not there to pull you down. Your challenges exist to move you forward. True greatness comes from regularly and successfully dealing with a wide range of challenges."

We should also be grateful for trials, adversity, and affliction. It is sometimes difficult to express gratitude when we are under stress, yet it is often such situations that permit significant spiritual growth.
