The Bay Area music community is coming together to produce "A Concert for Ronnie Montrose - A Celebration of His Life In Music" for the legendary San Francisco guitarist, who passed away recently. It will be held at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on Friday, April 27. Tickets go on sale on March 30 at 10:00 am.

"A Concert For Ronnie Montrose - A Celebration of His Life In Music" will feature the original Montrose lineup (Sammy Hagar, vocals; Bill Church, bass; and Denny Carmassi, drums), performing the landmark first Montrose album, with special guest Joe Satriani on lead guitar. The original Gamma lineup (Davey Pattison, vocals; Glenn Letsch, bass; Denny Carmassi, drums) will also be on hand, with special guest Marc Bonilla on lead guitar. There will also be an All-Star band, comprised of many of the great musicians that Ronnie played with over the years. Some of the confirmed artists include: Neal Schon from Journey, Steve Smith formerly from Journey, members of Tesla, Eric Martin from Mr. Big, Rickie Philips from Styx, Eric Singer from Kiss, Tommy Thayer of Kiss, and Jimmy DeGrasso from Y & T and Alice Cooper.

Ronnie Montrose was born in San Francisco and moved with his family to Colorado when he was two, returning back to his native home when he was 19 years old. In 1969, he started a band with Bill Church called Sawbuck, but that project got sidetracked when Ronnie was hired to do studio work with Van Morrison (Tupelo Honey), Boz Scaggs, Edgar Winter, Herbie Hancock, and others. In 1973, he formed his own band, Montrose, who recorded two albums together. The debut Montrose album went platinum and has been called the “first American heavy metal album.” In 1979, Ronnie formed Gamma, who recorded four albums. Ronnie continued to record through the 1980s and 1990s, and Gamma put out their fifth album in 2005.

This is from Leighsa Montrose, Ronnie’s beloved wife: “Ronnie was the kindest man I had ever met. I am honored that he was my husband and best friend as well. We slept together, we woke each morning together and we shared every meal together. We savored every moment that we had together. I am so proud of him for the man he was, which extended far beyond his musical abilities. I am full of joy to have been a part of his life, and I'm so happy that he was a part of mine. I dearly thank all of you for your friendship and love you shared with him. I know it meant everything to him. - All love, Mrs. Leighsa Montrose”

Sammy Hagar stated, "One of my top priorities this year was a Montrose reunion. Ronnie and I planned to do it in Cabo in October. I am so sad it won't happen, but on April 27th, Joe Satriani, Denny Carmassi, Bill Church and I are going to play the hell out of some Montrose!!!"

Tickets to "A Concert For Ronnie Montrose - A Celebration of His Life In Music" will go on sale on March 30 at 10am. General admission tickets are $55.00 and VIP Reserved tickets are $175.00. AXS.com and goldenvoice.com

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Ronnie Montrose Fund for San Francisco Bay Area Musicians through SweetRelief.org.

We all know, we can't rewrite the past, but we can forsee, where we're headed. For my 3 grown kids, who now have their own families, I've found myself in a interesting position, one of a spectator, looking in instead of looking within. This gives me a totally new prospective on life. How will this affect my own life ?? I haven't figured that one out yet....I'm still trying to unravel the sorted mess in my own vessel, but i tell you this....

I love nostalgia, and looking back at this vintage photo, it reminds me of a life long gone, but still in my heart, ( That's me, the little guy )being restrained by my Mom. Long before color film, this is a gathering of family, by the ocean front in Cuba, when times together were so crucial and so much fun. One thing I've learned in this quest called " Life " that the more complicated life gets, the more we stray from it's values...the richness of traditions passed down through the ages. That's why our World is on the edge, the loss of FAMILY, the loss of Traditions. It's an intangible that's not easily passed on, it requires persistence and Love.
What's Important to You ??? We go about our lives, worried about what's next on our agenda...but I ask you, Are you ready ??? now You're asking yourself .....Ready for what ?? Are you ready to receive news from your doctor, that you have terminal cancer and have weeks to Live !!! Now you tell me, What's important ??? the Cruise, the Car, the money....none of these things really matter anymore, does it ?? But are you ready to face, what lays ahead of you.....We take our mortality for granted...but remember, like all previous generations before us, they are all gone...Remember, you can't take that cruise, or the car, or the money with you.

ONEtag:architectsofanewdawn.ning.com,2009-03-21:2227378:BlogPost:570432009-03-21T14:30:00.000ZEmilio Jhttp://architectsofanewdawn.ning.com/profile/EmilioJVazquez

When I moved to Florida, from the Concrete slabs of New York City, I envisioned a move to a State where wildlife was provided with safe havens......I was so wrong !!! since 1996, I have witnessed how little we as humans, concern ourselves with the protection of our natural resources. To illustrate my concern, I live in an area, which is surrounded by lush forests, and just recently I was appalled to see this Development Company, come in and completely level and destroy a complete section of forest, displacing many birds and small animals. I thought to myself, " Here comes Another Strip Mall or Apt. Complex". After many months, of digging and clearing of trees, the project has been abandoned !!! all the earth moving equipment has been removed, now all that remains is a barren piece of land.

I managed to take a picture of what I found amazing to find in a inner city park, a Deer !! so odd was this, in that I've never seen a deer in this area. This only confirmed to me, how senseless WE are...Displacing animals, from there habitat !!!
