In 1974, I crawled all over the house like a bay for one month. Then I went to hands and knees. Also spent a lot of time hanging from my hands, jungle gym. Helped a lot. Rewiring... it does work. Juggling is a wonderful thing. Spent a couple years learning how, anything to increase connections. Its OK to drop the ball. Just do it. 85% of the brain motor wiring connects to the hands.

Dorinne,
My friends actually live in CA near Sacramento, but now from Patrick's remarks, I see I have to get back in touch with them to find out about their son's health and progress. As an aside, they also took him to a Homeopathic doctor and she put him on certain metals, one at a time and at that time (about 6 years ago) the metals helped to straighten out his hands, arms and legs, which were mostly curled up.

I do remember thinking that if they told Jon to crawl with his girls and that that would also improve his own brain function there must be much more one could do as a result. Thanks Patrick for the information; since I have had to major head injuries there are some things my brain seems to do or not do that make me realize I need to employ some other tactics for my health. I will find Doman's book(s) and immediately employ the holding of the breath to help my brain work better.

Mary Rose, I agree that Tai Chi and Qi Gong could change our lives. I'd like to get my Mom to do these. But she may at least join me in the holding of her breath to boost the oxygen level in her brain. I'll try that tomorrow!

I'm also not surprized at the possibility of the Big Pharma financing of Wikipedia. They know their days are numbered, but they will go down fighting every step of the way, and why not send out as much misinformation as possible.

It is my understanding that Wikipedia is heavily financed by Big Pharma.

I just read a Wikipedia article that really denigrates Doman's findings. All I can say is that I personally met several children who went through Doman's process and they were brilliant young geniuses. In addition, one of my Scientist workers used Doman's teaching methods on his two children and they are truly exceptional. I have met several children who were trained in pattern recognition, dots on paper randomly placed who could tell at a glance how many hundreds or thousands of dots were put on the paper. Also met a four year old girl who played violin like a virtuoso and spoke 5 languages. My own experience with my own body and mind have shown me that Doman's systems worked and worked well. In fact I tested blood flow to the brain using a Doppler blood flow meter and affirmed his discoveries in that realm.

Mary Rose et al, so here is a simple exercise that we as adults can do easily. There are receptors at the base of the skull call carotid receptors. They detect the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. When CO2 goes too high, an emergency reflex causes the arteries and blood vessels in the brain to expand to 3X their normal size in order to get more oxygen to the brain. This reflex lasts for 30 minutes. So, I bought a cheap Casio digital watch that had a repeating countdown alarm on it in 1974. For two years, every half hour I would hold my breath for as long as I could until my brain was screaming for oxygen. (Blood to the brain therefore was triple) for the next half an hour I had triple blood flow to the brain. In half an hour, my watch would ring and I did the same thing again. All day long, every day. At the end of many months, my blood flow is not triple, it was 9X what is was before. Glen Doman told me when he was in his 70's that doing the exercise would ensure that the arteries in the brain were flexible and had no plaque. If you are ever tired, or in need of a pickup, hold your breath for as long as you can then breathe normally and forget about it. You will notice you are no longer tired and that you are exceptionally alert. It really works well when driving at night when you start doping off. Just pull over to the side of the road and do the exercises. I taught these exercises to 16,500 people in my seminars in the 70's and 80's with excellent results. Glen Doman was a master genius and a wonderful man. It is so good to see his daughter continuing his master work. There is, of course, much more. Hanging upside down and holding breath works even better. Just don't start out that way. Start simply, progress from there. I have been doing it now for over 35 years. No, not every half hour. I only did that for a few years. By the way, it is a good conversation topic. I held my breath where ever I found myself no matter what. The results are nothing short of spectacular. That technique alone should have won Glen Doman the Nobel Prize. He save so many brain damaged children and adults with the technique. Much love and Peace, Patrick

Co-incidentally, i just began receiving information from the Institute of Human Potential and Doman's daughter is now in charge of it.

One of the things i feel we do not recognize is that all of these movements are incorporated into Tai Chi and Qigong and the Chinese spent thousands so of years perfecting each of these movements to they energize the body in the most effective way possible And in doing these healing martial arts every day the total body is involved from inside out. And, one of the things that is amazing to me is that Falun Gong, which is a martial art related to Qigong, is forbidden by the government in China as they know the power it holds to create an independent/interdependent being.

BTW, the gentleman here who teaches Tai Chi - Qigong told me just yesterday that increasing the blood flow to the brain in order to get more oxygen to it is vital in healing Bipolar Disorder. And, now you are saying the same thing, Pat.

I am not sure who runs the Institute of Human Potential, but it is either Glen Doman or someone who studied with him, just an educated guess. I knew Glen years ago (1970's) and his is/was absolutely brilliant at re-patterning the brain. There are a number of good books written by him: what to do for your brain injured child, etc. I did ALL of his exercises and techniques for 10 years on myself and they really do work. He took many many brain damaged and mongoloid children and turned them into geniuses. And it works at ANY AGE. Good for seniors. Especially masking therapy to increase CO2 in order to increase (triple) blood flow to the brain, increasing glial cell development. Google: Dr. Glen Doman; find his books on Amazon etc. Patrick

Hello Susan
I am very familiar with the Institute for Human Potential. Many of their clients come to me either during or after their work there. I support each person to naturally get to that basic foundation, whether it be the need to crawl, the need to balance their senses, or the improvement of language development, or more. By repatterning these early foundations, each of us can develop, learn, and maintain our health and wellness much more easily. Please share my website with your friends www.thedaviscenter.com. I have Open Houses on the second Wednesday evening of the month that they may want to come to. I'm in NJ. As with the Institute's premise, it's not the disabilty or diagnosis that is important but making sure the connections are there to support movement forward and maintaining balance.
