Neuroplasticity – The Rewiring of the Brain Through Meditation
Ron Alexander

Paul Therow, the great travel writer, authored The Iron Rooster This is about traveling by train from Siberia through China ending up in Tibet. He writes about the happiness the Tibetan people, despite being under the military control of China. He noted that it must be because “they pray all the time.”
His Holiness The Dalai Lama wrote the book The Universe in a Single Atom. Here he wrote about the difficult decision to have his monks wired up to study their brain function while meditating. “However I felt very strongly (and still do feel) that the application of science to understanding the consciousness of meditators is most important. …I argued that they should undergo the experiments out of altruism: if the good effects of quieting the mind and cultivating wholesome mental states can be demonstrated scientifically, this may have beneficial results for others..."
In Buddha’s Brain: The Practice of Neuroscience of Happiness, a neuropsychologist Rick Hanson has joined with Richard Mendino in writing about neuroplasticity and rewiring the brain through meditation. “You don’t need an EEG or a Ph.D. to observe your experience and the world to become a happier and kinder person.”
The Dalai Lama also writes that what is left out of Western Science is the subjective experience. Indeed, personally speaking, Vipassana meditation helps me to be more balanced, more joyful, more peaceful and as a great side effect – healthier.

I'd really suggest to use the power of 11-11-11 (2009 gets the 11 as a result by numerology) for meditation. I meditated today in the morning for about one hour and there are no words to describe it!
I'd really like to thank Amara for the wonderful blog post about it. (http://architectsofanewdawn.ning.com/profiles/blogs/1111-eleven-alovin) There are also the links to read more about it.

Love and blessings, -Silja

I was so fortunate to see the Supernatural tour when it passed through the Hollywood Bowl, in 2000. The venue is one of the premier places because of the superior acoustics of the Bowl and surrounding mountains, and also the caliber of talent showcased. On the theme introduced by Jesus, I think Carlos and others have testified to that as well. What I know today about meditiation is that I am listening to that Power to tell me that will for me. Sometimes I can get out of self to give it to someone else....

Jesus, thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures with us. Just looking at them relaxes me on this busy day. I do share your opnion that bringing a smile to someone's face is a great gift to give.

I was sitting hear thinking "Today is another day and as I look out my picture window I cannot help but notice how beautiful the day is. I would like to challenge everyone to look around in any given day. We will come across someone who is less fortunate then ourselves. When that happens look that person in the eye and extend your hand to them. Bringing a smile to someone face you don't know. Try it and see what happens.
