 elease: - Meta Gallery is pleased to present Fear Hope and Love, an ex
 hibition of works on canvas by Mark Henson. In his first solo exhibiti
 on with the gallery, as well as his first in Canada, the artist explor
 es highly relevant themes in today’s socio-political climate. Throug
 h these detailed and intricate narrative works, a story unfolds, one w
 here the antagonist becomes the heroin as we realize that even though 
 we may be the problem, we are also the only solution.\n\nMark Henson w
 as born in 1952 in San Mateo, California. He has been involved in arti
 stic creation since his high school days in Sacramento where he was fo
 rtunate enough to attend classes by notable artists Mel Ramos and Ken 
 Waterstreet. Mark went on to receive a degree in art from the Universi
 ty of California, Davis, where he studied with Wayne Thiebaud, Roy DeF
 orest and Roland Peterson. He also maintains a rustic artist's retreat
  and studio in Monteverde, Costa Rica. He has been working primarily w
 ith oils all his life, but has also spent time as a gallery owner, wor
 ld traveler, graphic designer and fine craftsman. He enjoys painting l
 ive before the public at art and musical events, and has also been com
 missioned for Rock Poster design and set decoration. His work has appe
 ared in institutions such as the American Visionary Art Museum as well
  as countless gallery exhibitions. Mark has appeared as a featured spe
 aker at the Mindstates and other conferences, and enjoys organizing lo
 cal and traveling group exhibitions in conjunction with a group of lik
 e-minded artists.\n\nFear Hope and Love will be on view from October 2
 3 to December 23, 2009. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday fro
 m 11-6 and Sunday from 12-5. The opening reception will be on Friday O
