I've always believed in the innate goodness of people...no matter how cold and cruel our world has become. And I will never want to lose that belief. God bless everyone!

Ernesto......Sorry for taking so long to answer. Thanks for for asking about the music. I'm quite involved in the music scene here on Long Island. My taste in music is diverse. There is some however, that fit more into the noise catagory, than music in my opinion. I guess it's a generational thing. I remember my father scolding me for wasting money the first time he heard Bob Dylan eminating from my bedroom.

I am a musician myself. I play drums, albeit by ear.....my music reading was many years ago. Though I sure do see the value in it. I have had the honor of playing percussion ( conga's etc ) with some pretty impressive musicians over the years though. Though my "career" earnings have been meeger, I've had a lot of fun doing it. A old time San Diego tattooer named Doc Webb once said: " I don't want to just watch the rodeo....I want to ride in it". That pretty sums up my philosophy about life too.

My generation came up on rock and roll, and later so-called post-Beatles calssic rock. I have developed a fondness for jazz as well over the past few years. Does your collection include "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis? It's jazz classic, and my introduction. My late wife and I visited Prague some years ago, where I was re-introduced to Bossa Nova.....something that was briefly popular in the mid sixties, and immediately brushed aside by the British invasion. I never thought I'd ever hear Bossa Nova in the Czec Republic, but It was very cool.

I recently made contact with a man named Denny Tedesco. His dad was a session guitarist with a group of studio musicians know affectionately as the "Wrecking Crew". They were the music behind many, many pop tunes of the 60's and early 70's. Google "Wrecking Crerw" and or Denny Tedesco. Denny has produced and directed a documentary about the group. Many of them have passed on now, including Denny's dad Tommy Tedesco. Just about everyone alive has heard their music behind the like of the Beach Boys, the Mommas and Poppas,Simon and Garfunkel, the Monkeys, just about everybody produced by Phil Spector, the Ronettes, the Chrystals, Ike and Tina Turner, the Righteous Brothers, . and on, and on.....litterally hundreds of songs.

Well this hasn't been much of a contribution to subject at hand, in the spirit in which probably intended.....But I'm greatful......Anytime one can walk ito a room of total strangers, sit down and make beautiful music with out exchanging a word, it's magic! It's the most wonderful form of non verbal communication there is.......cheers for now Bill

In the evenings, my family practices sitting in a circle with a lit candle and reciting our gratefuls. One night my nephew, new to the circle, suggested we recite our desires... so we did. The feeling afterward was completely different... an emptiness seeking to be fulfilled. I realized that... gratitude is the focus on the fullness of life...

A native American prayer I have carried in my heart for many years says:

When you arise in the morning,
Give thanks for your life,
Give thanks for your health,
And give thanks for the joy of living.
If perchance you see no reason
for giving thanks,
Rest assured, the fault is in yourself.

Perhaps gratitude isn't just a nice sentiment, but a survival skill too. The ones most aware of 'what is' - the mindful ones, are much more likely to be able to assess and evaluate problems, thus creating a flow toward solution. Higher consciousness is what will save us...

I'm grateful for this group.
Metta,
Jeanne

am grateful for all the wonderful souls on this site and others. I'm grateful for Marinspin for reminding us to be grateful :) (especially in the face of adversity and hardship)

I'm grateful to God and all the wonderful beauty on the earth. And for my beautiful family, especially my identical twin, Alison. I'm grateful for my dog Chloe for keeping me moving forward, even when I'm too tired to think.

I'm grateful for hardship, because it causes you to get real, dig deep for hope, and learn what life is really about.

I'm also grateful for feeling ok enough to get out of my house today, get brunch, and go to Pier 1! And I'm also thankful to Pier1 for having a sale..I was able to buy some beautiful blue grass for .75 a bunch! (originally 8.00) :)

And I'm grateful for simply being able to FEEL gratitude in this world. That is a gift as well. SMILE!
