I too came to a point where i widened my horizon, for me, this was after practising and teaching one form of meditation for many years and I've been unbecoming a 'fundamentalist' meditator.
I now feel all the traditions offer methods and ways and in my letting go of the need to be right or of one way and to simply trust and know that God is within me and God is within all that is

and allow that to grow strong.

Ok here's my Way to Meditation & Contemplation (as a liberal Christian and protestant Pastor living & working here in Germany) ... perhaps it finds some resonances ;-)

In my younger Years between 15 -18 I was what you would call a Christian in a very evangelical way (Converted & related to Christ, very biblical & missionary orientated).
Then I started my University-Study in Theology and came in contact with the historic, liberal & scientistic access to the Christian Faith. At that Time i changed from Billy Graham to Bonhoeffer ;-), Tillich and others ... widened my Horizon, Faith & Persepectives ... and was longing for a spiritual praxis that complement my prayer life.

At that Time I met a protestant Pastor in my Hometown, who teached Meditation in a Zen-Style and combined it with "Autogenes Training".
I discovered a whole new kind of "Beeing in the Presence of God", the Blessing of Silence and "just Sitting".
I also was very impressed by a roman-catholic Spirituality who was close to ZEN and read a lot Ennomya-Lassale, William Johnston and others

In the following Years I became more and more involved into the Practice of Meditation (sitting in Silence) and the Pastor became my Mentor the Study Years and in the first three Years of my profession.

Today I give Meditation classes in my own Parish since 14 Years and sit with a small group twice a month on Friday Evening.
In the first Minutes we "arrive" by relaxing and listening to Music or singing some Chorals and Canons.
Then we sit in Silence (Zazen) for 2x20 Minutes - and walk in between in a slow silent way (Kin-hin).
The last 30 Minutes we talk or read a passage from the bible or another Text of Inspiration. Somertimes I lead a Meditation connected to the "Irish Blessing" (May God be under, above, behind, inside you ...)

Meditation, so I learned more and more, is'nt "Buddhist" or "esoteric" or something. Its essential like breathing. And its my very own in the christian tradition from old church history up to now.

"Sitting in Silence" is my way.
Sometimes I also use a Prayer Word (Mantra).
Whatever - my protestant Faith is based on the Word and I'm dealing lot with it in Preaching & Education. Exactly thats the Reason why I'm in Need of a "Shut Up!" ;-) and of Silence.

Thank you so much, Patti!
I'd be truly grateful, when you share your experiences and if you'd say something valuable for the beginners, who have never tried to meditate as well. I completely agree with you, that there are many ways to practice, just as long as it is connected to unconditional love. Maybe you could give some advice for how to begin with it, you can start the discussion about it, if you like.
I've learned through the own practicing, never had the teachers. But I've learned from many teachers through the meditation and of course have learned from the books also. Still it is all so personal, what works for someone and when. I've used the meditation for years and also had the first experiences as a child. Just feel free and welcomed to share your wisdom and what you've experienced. I feel so blessed that you're being here to share it all with us.

Namaste! I just came home from teaching a meditation class tonight and a friend had emailed me about architects of a new dawn. What a delight to be introduced to this site and to join this group. I started meditating when I was 13 and have taught meditation for over 25 years. I love the potency of group meditation and what can be co-created with purity and clarity of intention. I have known the limitation in believing there is only one way to meditate and have also experienced the imbalance of creating more light than love and wisdom in ones field through lots of meditation. I have experienced the natural potency of unconditional love that flows from a full heart in meditation. Synthesis and integration and insight with meditation seems to me to be a valuable contributor to keep building a new dawn of human awareness on this precious planet earth. Love to all. Patti

Here are some wonderful words from the good friend of mine, Desmond. I want to share them with all of you.

Breathe consciously and deeply, love fearlessly and fully,
Celebrate yourself as completely as you can and feel,
How wonderful you and the rest of life are being now,
Awaiting your full awakening and your passionate wow.....
love and ceaseless joy.

We are love incarnate overflowing naturally into this magical space,
Coming and going freely as family members living at our own pace,
It is a joy indeed to feel and smell and taste the happiness we share,
As we rediscover one another and realize how nice it is to simply care....
&
Conscious Breathing! Conscious Breathing! Everyone! Everyone!!
Conscious Breathing makes us healthy! Conscious Breathing makes us Healthy!
Breathe some more! breathe some more...

Conscious Breathing! Conscious Breathing! Everyone! Everyone!!
Conscious Breathing makes us Wealthy! Conscious Breathig makes us Wealthy!!

There's one thing I wanted to share with you. It is a collective prayer Naomi posted on Naturally U-niversal.
Lets Do a collective prayer for RAIN now in Melbourne Australia
Hello wonderful beings,

How about we all join together to pray for rain to come now in the area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia where the bush fires are still burning. The rain has been a drizzle only for a couple of weeks and i felt that there is so much collective vibrational healing that we can all do together. So i'm reaching out in joy to you all as this is what this amazing group is for!! I'm going to start a prayer and if any of you choose to join, i feel there is no need for a specific time, just your intention to join in this chain of healing will create the energy of this powerful divine intervention that is to occur. We can all focus on this healing as a great mass of pure love for the rain to come to bring harmony to the dryness and in honour and appreciation for fire itself, however to bring balance. The intention is for the rain to pour down in Melbourne and Victoria now to cleanse the entire state and clear away the debris and now stop the fires from burning. Enough is enough and the only way to stop them now is with rain. I thank you fellow healers and i will enjoy feeling your collective energies contributing in this miraculous cleansing of RAIN.. For all of you already contributing to this mass healing on any levels, your energy is a part of this too. thank you. Love in light

When using the meditation for to manifest something, always imagine the positive result as if it would be real in the presence. The collective prayer and the collective meditation works much stronger through the unified power. Thank you so much.

Yes Silja,
Ths is so beautiful,
Indeed our life is already this truly warm and joyful breath
Which we are sharing now,
And all of the world is learning how,
To breath dance with themselves and with us at the same time,
Bringing all in harmony and trust to feel ourselves eternally as sublime,
One conscious deep breath at a time! One conscious deep breathat a time.....
