The day after Halloween, there will be a one day meditation course near my house. I have not sat formally with people, since this summer. I am putting it out to all here, as a reminder that is something I need to do to reconnect, and to develop better habits. I wish you all the best, and good luck...

Well, as you can see above that, after reflection, I have changed the title to "The Buddha and Modern Science". Not only Quantum Physics, but modern cosmology, biology and other sciences lines up The Buddhas' Insightfulness. After all Vipassana really means "seeing what is real" or "Insight"? Does it not? What has Compassionate Love, Oneness got to do with it? Did the "big bang' theory explains our beginnings and our interconnectedness. What about Infinity?

Quantum Physics and Vipassana: I am going to start a new 'discussion' group on modern physics and its relevance in Buddhism and particularly Vipassana:
"I once asked my physicist friend David Bohm this question: From the perspective of modern science, apart from the question of misrepresentation, what is wrong with the belief in the independent existence of things? His response was telling. He said that if we examine various ideologies that tend to divide humanity, such as racism, extreme nationalism, and the Marxist class struggle, one of the key factors of their origin is the tendency to perceive things as inherently divided and disconnected." His Holiness The Dalia Lama from p. 51 of his book The Universe in a Single Atom.

Ron, I did a search to find an itinerary for Dr. Fleischman and couldn't find anything recent. I'd love to see and hear him and sit with him... if he came to the NW.

Not transcendance, not trance, not out-of-body, not egolessness, althought these states happen in meditation, in Vipassana, our goal is equanimity according to Goenka.
To me equanimity is real peace, real joy, real balance, and is the middle road that Buddha teaches.
I am going to transfer this to equanimity discussion above if anyone would like to comment on it here or there. metta, ron

Thanks to Jeane for adding this comment to "discussion" aboveWell, I finally did it... set aside an hour to watch both parts of the Oprah interviews. ...now I want to see the movie. It was very inspiring to hear the prisoners finding a way to be at peace with themselves even while in the harsh prison environment.
