Help me in the Fight against HOAs forcing us to live with pesticides.

I live in a town home community with a Home Owners Assoc. that takes it upon itself to spray pesticides on our lawns. My dogs and myself have become very ill from exposure to our grass after spraying without marking the area sprayed. I am also unable to grow an organic garden in my own yard. Despite repeated requests to stop the spraying, they still continue.

My home state of Florida is in the process of trying to pass a law restricting HOA's from this practice. See below:

Stop FL.HOA's and Condo Assoc. from poisoning our kids

    Target:pesticides and herbicides

HOA's Condo Associations and property Management Companies Here in FL have the unbridled power to allow spraying by ornamental lawn and aquatics managements companies, even on children with documented allergies/chemical sensitivity!Ornamental grounds care is a big $$ business in Florida. As the law currently stands, the Fl. Dept of Ag. can do nothing to stop them. Please write to Senator Bill Nelson of Fl. and Senator Lautenberger of NJ to put an end to this practice. Spray Notification Registries do nothing to stop this practice.

If you live in Florida, please go to the url below and sign the petition to stop this practice.

With regard to the URL campaign (Stop FL.HOA's and Condo Assoc. from poisoning our kids), you will be taken to a page stating that the page you are looking for "has been moved" but gives no further instructions. However, if you copy:

    stop-flhoa39s-and-condo-assoc-from-poisoning-our-kids

and paste this into the search box on that site, you will be taken to the campaign page.

Thanks, Holly! :-) I'm off to try and find out how to do that! What is this, exactly? Is it a sort of social networking thing, like MySpace? Thanks so much for being my friend on here! :-)

    Holly--
    thanks for the comment.
regarding your post that deals with the spraying of insecticides and/or herbicides in your "condo community," perhaps the threat of a lawsuit (even in small claims court) would loosen the bowels of the HOA enough to allow you the choice you should properly have for your property. i am not a huge fan of litigation, but sometimes it's all some folks or organizations understand. in addition, it is highly likely that there are "green" solutions to the issues that the HOA is trying to address with their spraying policy. Giving them choices might free them up to offer you the ones you deserve.

Smiling is very important. If we are not able to smile, then the world will not have peace. It is not by going out for a demonstration against nuclear missiles that we can bring about peace. It is with our capacity of smiling, breathing, and being peace that we can make peace.
