    (Moon of the Buffalo)

Petaske’Kno is both awake and asleep. Separate from his physical body and yet in control of it, he realizes that he’s awakened in his spirit body. Engulfed in a brilliant white light, he’s caressed by a soothing luminescence that’s comprised of billions of flowing particles. A landscape begins to take form within the dancing radiance — grassy flatlands bordered by low hills that unite to become a range of snowcapped peaks in the distance. A solitary stone stands in the field, a rock that’s been carved by the elements to resemble the massive head of a buffalo.

From the distance, a figure approaches — a woman in multi-colored robes and white buckskin with long, braided hair as black as a raven’s feather. As she continues to approach him, he finds her movement to be spellbinding, as if she were floating across the meadow without touching the earth. He recognizes her as a “Being” who possesses great medicine, and he greets her with respect.

    “How go you, Sister?”

“I am well, little brother. I bring you a message from Cake’go gagizhtot. Some of the People have lost their vision. They have become impoverished and are starving. You and your teacher must journey to them, help to restore their faith. You must bring them a message of wholeness and truth. Give them this vision of the spirit of the buffalo… show them how to call forth rain. Reawaken the voice of the Great Spirit within them so that they might hear their own inner wisdom once again.”

“I am but a boy in the eyes of most of the people whom we meet. Is it not better for Nagos Bmose’ to speak for the Father? They will better listen to him.”

“It is time for you to find your voice and also begin to attend the Father’s will, my child. You have much to share, and your youth will serve to make the elders realize that age is not a limitation in calling upon the name of the Holy One.

A short excerpt from my novel I thought you might enjoy... :-)

The image is titled "White Buffalo Woman", one of my images I created for the book.
