Dawn:
Hope you are feeling better. I thought I did answer this. My father is Richard Lee Adams, born in Indiana. HIs father was John Cleon Adams, who married Dorothy Jewel Lamon. They lived a long part of their life in Missouri. John's father was Frederick Allen Adams who married Leona bell. Fred's dad was John Henry Adams. John's wife was Martha Denzler. John's parent were Joshua Allen Adams and Sarah McCoy. They were originally from Virginia, which became West Virginia during the civil war. Joshua joined up with the Union army, and his family and brothers stay with the Confederates. Let me know if those names ring any bells.

Sorry to be so late in answering. My great-great-great grandfather, Joshua Allen Adams served in the Union army during the Civil War. He was from what is now West Virginia. He married Sarah McCoy, daughter of a preacher. Joshua's father was John Adams, and was said to be 2nd or 3rd cousin to President Adams. Joshua's son, John Henry Adams, his son Frederick Allen Adams, and my grandfather John C. Adams who lived in Missiouri with is wife, my grandmother Dorothy Jewell Lamon.
I'll look through my files. I remember a big Adam's family reunion in Iowa when I was about 13. I am sure we are related there somewhere.
Hi Mama!!! I am wishing you a VERY "Happy Mother's Day" too and am SO happy that your flower delivery found it's way to you via a neighbor! I had a strong feeling that is how you would receive them. Only wish I could be there to celebrate with you and the girls. Sending you LOTS of love and hugs. I am SO happy that you've found this site and that you have shared your find!!! XOXO

Well my grandparents were John Adams and Dorothy Lamon. John's dad was Frederick Adams, and his father was Joshua Allen Adams. Fred married Leona Bell and lived in southern Indiana. There was a big family reunion in Iowa when I was a teen and all kinds of Adams were there. Its a really big clan. My dad's name is Richard, and his brother's name is Lloyd.

Yes, I Am fairly new here and from what I see, there is a fair amount of separation between the locals and large expensive communities specifically encouraged by CR government and business to attract retirees from North America, Northern Europe to bring their money here.
I live in Heredia among the locals, even while learning Spanish as that is what calls me. I thive.

Well Dawn, I am going on 54, so I don't know if you could be my grandmother. SMILE. My great, great, great grandfather was Joshua Allen Adams from Virginia. He was descended from a John Adams who was supposedly a cousin of the famous Presidents named Adams.
Joshua fought in the Civil War on the side of the North, against his brothers and family who stayed with the Confederacy. He married Sarah McCoy, daughter of a Minister, and they moved to Misssouri.

Every morning
the world
is created.
Under the orange
sticks of the sun
the heaped
ashes of the night
turn into leaves again
and fasten themselves to the high branches ---
and the ponds appear
like black cloth
on which are painted islands
of summer lilies.
If it is your nature
to be happy
you will swim away along the soft trails
for hours, your imagination
alighting everywhere.
And if your spirit
carries within it
the thorn
that is heavier than lead ---
if it's all you can do
to keep on trudging ---
there is still
somewhere deep within you
a beast shouting that the earth
is exactly what it wanted ---
each pond with its blazing lilies
is a prayer heard and answered
lavishly,
every morning,
whether or not
you have ever dared to be happy,
whether or not
you have ever dared to pray.
