Yeah thats Pharoah, He is the man. Carlos has been borrowing from Pharoah and Alice coltrane for 35 years. I love Astral travelling on his Thembi album. Lonnie Liston Smith did it too and I know Carlos borrowed heavily from it. Angels all around us came from Pharoah as well. Haven't made it to Vegas yet but I might be jonesing around August.

HA! The Are you a Farm Nerd Quiz? That was aimed at my Silicon Valley people, but I'd love to see how it was received...it's pretty nerdy.

If you head over to hyperlocavore.com you can search in the PEAS (members section). I don't know if the folks you know are signed up yet, but I sure hope so. :D

I really do think hyperlocavore.com and faith communities are like peanut butter and jelly, yard sharing is something we can all get behind.

Dear Dr.Mike, I really enjoyed your light-hearted but wise note to your "sportfishing captain republican friend." However, I hope that pure equality comes forth in our lifetime or in the next one at least.!
I have not heard back from Kokomon, but will let you know when I do!
and I am borrowing your Stevie Wonder quote: "Learning to love oneself, is the greatest love of all." Thanks!
an ocean of blessings, Ron

Yes, Dr. Mike, I will copy your insightful reply and pass it on to Kokomon Clottey whose page you can find by the site search. I could not find his co-author and wife (?) Aeeshah name here, and she was the one who led the Racial Healing Group, while Kokomon leads a great Mindful Drumming Group.
I hope their paths are still merged? No Mistake, Ron

Life is a balancing act. Too much or not enough = loss of balance. Mindfully we go forth, testing our limits... finding our center... patiently and persistently... loving the moment. Metta, Jeanne

DrMike, I am not really proud of this region I was born in and now live in. I consider the "tea baggers" to mostly be racists, as most of our taxes have been reduced. I think many Southern religious and political lleaders teach hate in the name of love. Next to being a yankee or a black, a liberal like me is the third worst classification according to my misled fellow Southerners.
I consider myself a Jimmy Carter/MLK Jr. type of Southerner, and I am proud of them. By the way, I voted for Obama, as far and away, he is the smartest and wisest of all the politicians I have ever observed. Yet, according to most family members and colleagues and neighbors down here, he is the worst thing ever to happen to the U.S.A. - they can't get past their limbic brain (snake or alligator) instinctual fear. And yet I have to love them (they consider liberals like me their enemy - I see them as just being fearful), and pray for their awakening. I would enjoy a racial dialogue, if you are interested. I am mentioned in a book called Beyond Fear by Aeeshah Ababio-Clottey and her husband Kokomon Clottey. I have seen Kokomon's name on this website and I am going to copy this and see if I can get him and Aeeshah interested in dialoguiing about their "Twelve Spiritual Keys to Racial Healing" which is the subtitle to their wonderful book. in gratitude, Ron

God Must Love Us Unconditionally
Since He gave us free will. Otherwise he would have sent us in with a set of instructions and rules for our life.

Hi Dr. Mike, I just mean that I don't have to please God with money or anything thanks to Grace - unconditional love. Ron
Thanks for asking!

Thank you for the comment on Spike (my dog). He is a yellow Lab and I highly recommend this breed, especially around children. Spike has a following in my neighborhood; all the kids. They stop on their way home from school to ask if Spike can come out and play. Spike can make grown men act silly, grumpy people smile on Monday morning and kids behave. LOL I am working on marketing this ability..

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your message, really appreciate it. It's the same lesson that I continue to learn and re-learn. Sometimes I simply feel embarrassed every time I realize this. But then again, I treat myself as work in progress...One reason that keeps me drawn in this site is the positive vibes that I get from people like you. I wish you and your family all the best. I'm glad to be friends with you; your notes also inspire me.

Bless you always,
Brenda
