Nick's bone marrow drive is tomorrow in San Francisco! Please pass on all all you know. Nick just went through is third round of chemo with no signs of remission. He needs a bone marrow donation pronto as well as AS MANY PRAYERS AS POSSIBLE.
Here's his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=187327345176
Nick Glasgow is a 28-year-old multiracial Japanese American who was diagnosed with leukemia in March. After three rounds of chemotherapy, the leukemia has yet to go into remission. Despite being told by a doctor that he has a “zero percent” chance to live, Nick is not giving up. He URGENTLY needs to find a bone marrow donor. Ethnicity is crucial when matching patients with donors; there’s a severe shortage of ethnic minorities on the National Registry.
With Nick’s situation becoming even more urgent, we’re trying to encourage as many folks as possible to come out to the donor drive tomorrow in San Francisco’s Japantown. It’s sponsored by the Nichi Bei Times.
WHEN: Saturday, June 13
WHERE: JCCCNC (Art Room, 1840 Sutter St., first floor) in San Francisco’s Japantown.
TIME: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For more information, please visit www.aadp.org or call 800-59-DONOR.
Anyone with an Asian (Sino-Asian, rather than Indo-Asian) and Caucasian mixed ethnic background could be a match. Any Japanese - Caucasian mix has a good chance of being a match. Of course, someone who is 75% Caucasian and 25% Japanese has the best chance of being a match. However, everyone with a mix of Caucasian and Asian ethnic background is encouraged to get tested.
