ING KiDS ROCK New Orleans Makes Fitness Fun

Look at them go!

Close to 700 kids completed their final one-mile run at ING KiDS ROCK at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center on Saturday, March 3, 2012 — the culminating event of their “marathon” run.

“The kids have been running in their gym classes for the past eight to 15 weeks,” said Suzanne Sullivan, head of Sponsorships and Cause-Related Marketing for ING U.S. “With the help of the ING Run For Something Better® training guide, they realized running a marathon is achievable and a lot of fun.” The modified training guide includes a 25.2-mile training progress chart for the kids to track their mileage and fitness tips for them to start and maintain an overall healthy and active lifestyle.

Olympian and ING KiDS ROCK national ambassador Rod Dixon helped the kids stretch out and get pumped up for their run. “I am thrilled to see so many kids excited about running,” said Dixon. “I commend ING for championing running and introducing the sport to kids because we need programs like this to help put an end to childhood obesity.”

ING KiDS ROCK is one of the largest kids running series in conjunction with the Rock’n’Roll Marathon and Half Marathon series. To date, through ING Run For Something Better programs, more than 125,000 kids have run more than 4 million miles!
