We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.
Community support is one of Banorte’s pillars. On January 6th, this type of support was provided. Banorte employees got their act in gear for action and donated toys to children and youngsters at public hospitals, in several regions of Mexico.
The tradition in Mexico is to celebrate Three Kings’ Day on January 6th by giving gifts to children.
Thanks to the invitation, extended on December 2010 by “Acciones Banorte”, a Social Responsibility initiative of the bank, Banorte employees donated 7879 toys, to be delivered on Three Kings’ Day to children and youngsters in public hospitals located through all the Mexican Republic.
In such a way, co-workers from different areas of the company registered as volunteers in the initiative “Jugando, jugando… y con Banorte ayudando” (Playing, playing… and helping with Banorte). They listened to talks by specialists about volunteer work, how to get organized and, be at the hospital facilities on the appointed schedule, with the best attitude and a big smile, in fun costumes.
Clowns, little dolls, action and children cartoon characters were present, among others, giving toys to the kids and getting smiles, gratitude and enthusiasm from the children, the parents and the hospitals’ staff, in return.
The experience for the volunteers was amazing. They remained with the pleasant satisfaction and desire of doing it again. Besides contributing with toys, good wishes and encouragement for the kids, their families and the health care staff who were at the hospitals, the team spirit generated, the opportunity for employees to relate outside of work, by performing such an emotional activity, the gratitude to the institution for developing this type of activity, and, the tremendous desire to do it again, are experiences that leave a trace in an organization, being the family that we are; as well as an individual trace.
Very soon we will publish the pictures. Be on the outlook! Meanwhile, we share with you here the photos of part of this excellent group of volunteers that made us feel proud for their social work.
*Acción in Spanish can be translated as “action” and “share of company stock.”
