hi~! I just posted this to my page and Marinspin said I should post it here too...here goes!

My boyfriend Mark and I are interested in networking with others that are farming organically. Mark has a young, small, almond orchard (29 acres) in the Central Valley of California (south Merced area). Right now, the trees are still young. 21 acres of 4 year old trees, and 9 acres of 1 year olds.

Last year was the first harvest, which created 7700 pounds of nuts. Now that the trees are getting a little bit older and more stable, we are looking to transition to an organic orchard. We are new to this process, and haven't really started it yet, but we are trying to learn all we can to see what is possible. thanks!

I just wanted to introduce my friend Amy who just joined this group. Her boy friend has a almond orchard in California which is part of the reason she wanted to join this group. She wants to help him with his orchard.

Oops. Tania uses quartz.

I loved Silja's comment on spraying the quartz solution. I take landscaping castoffs (cement slabs, rocks, sand, tree containers, etc...) I received a large load of quartz rock and I've been incorporating it into the garden whenever I dig. I got the idea from the movie Greenfinger. I use the cement as pavers (re-crete) the sand keeps down the grubs and I use the big pots to create moveable towers of plants. That way I just put the plants in the little sun there is this time of year and there's no bending to harvest and very little washing required. It's like a big strawberry pot. I'll look for a picture to post on my page. Happy Gardening!

One raised bed not totally filled with dirt yet and not enough sun this time of year to grow much of anything because the shade falls on my raised bed.

I find ticks on my vegetable leaves sometimes too. Any ideas on how to deal with ticks in the garden?

The each and every day is a wonder just to see how the picture changes every day. And the fresh food is a blessing, it also has so much influence for the consciousness of the human. It's also what thoughts we put in it, when we grow, the what is the main goal.

I have one raised bed so far that I mainly use in the summer. It does not get enough sun in the winter. I rent so I am probably going to stick with one raised bed and some half barrel containers. I enjoy gardening and especially like eating food from the garden. I had a deer or rabbit problem last summer.

To use the whole understanding the how everything is connected gives the new way for how to grow the plants. By treating the piece of land we use as alive and as the beautiful part of the whole universe gives much more than just a crop to harvest although it is also needed so much.
We can understand the how the different species of plants collaborate with each other and how perfect it works out in the wild nature, that is not being disturbed. The every plant works in harmony with everything on this planet and also with the outer space and the star systems.
The same kind of the harmony can be created on the own piece of land and that gives the spiritual dimension for growing the life by planting. We as the humans are so much more than the plants, but by understanding the laws of the universe we can recreate our lives in a better way.
Deepest respect for expressions of life!
