Please help! I keep hearing a High frequency sound...

Hi there. I am not sure about how to start, so I will just start with the beginning. When I was little, about 1 year old, I went with my parents to the Black Sea, in Romania. That's where I'm from. One day, my mother decided we should go on a tour of the seaside. It was a bus without a top. Needless to say I got ill. It turned out that I had meningitis. My mom says that I was in so much pain, that I would blackout repeatedly. I kept hearing one very loud screeching sound in my head. A few months later, I got better. Although, since then, I keep hearing a high frequency sound, in my head. Although it doesn't hurt me anymore, it resembles the one I was hearing when I had meningitis. I know this to be true, because I can remember it. Interestingly enough, I seem to hear this sound all the time. During the day, I tend to keep focus on other things, so it kind of goes unnoticed. If I should remain calm, in a perfect silence, I would hear this sound. In all my research I could not find one possible explanation for why this is occuring. Until one day, when I was googling for something, I found on youtube "2,000 hz sine wave test signal". Needless to say, I was curious as to what it would sound like. I was in shock, because I was hearing the same sound, in my head, for years and years, although a bit higher and softer. Then I became interested in sounds and their frequencies and found sourcevibrations.com. I listened to the samples and I was amazed. I enjoyed them deeply. I wanted, then, to ask someone, whether there could be an explanation for what I keep hearing and whether I should do something about it... This led me here to my posting this question. I hope it would not go unanswered for I have nowhere else to turn to.
