There are times when we isolate ourselves from others in order to keep from getting hurt or disappointed, but this is a false sense of security. Not only will the eventual pain of isolation outweigh the risk of "projected" hurt, but by withdrawing inside yourself you cede your ability to manage events to others. Whether we are speaking about the physical level or the soul level, we are social beings and find our greatest joys through our connections to others.
