Take Action! Help Pass the "Water For The World Act"

Water Org

This is an urgent request for your help in passing an important piece of legislation: the Water for the World Act (S. 624). This legislation would enable first-time access to safe water and sanitation, on a sustainable basis, for 100 million of the world's poorest people.

Last week, the U.S. Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent. The effort has now shifted to the House of Representatives, which must pass the bill so that it can be sent to the President for his signature and become law. We have a very small window of time to pass this legislation. We need to pull out the stops to bring it up for a vote in the House THIS WEDNESDAY and need your help.

Our ask is very simple: urge your congressperson to support immediate House passage of the just-passed Water for the World Act, S. 624.

The following members of Congress particularly need to hear from you TODAY regarding the Water for the World Act:

  • Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Florida's 18th - 202-225-3931
  • Rep. Dan Burton, Indiana's 5th, incl. part of Indianapolis - 202-225-2276
  • Rep. Howard Berman, California's 28th - 202-225-4695
  • Any other congressional office to which you have access and can make an encouraging phone call, preferably your own congressperson.
  • All House offices can be called through 202-225-312, or more directly by getting their office numbers from

Can you please take five minutes RIGHT NOW to place a phone call to your Congressperson and make clear your support for this legislation? We are beyond the letter-writing stage, and very much at the phone call stage.

On behalf of those in need of clean water and sanitation, thank you for your support!
