Swine Flu - Natural Remedies
Swine flu natural remedies can effectively treat swine flu symptoms and prevent their spread. Read on to know more, about the various herbal remedies for swine flu.

Cases of swine flu are rising on a daily basis and this calls for different treatment options that are effective in relieving swine flu symptoms. Though the most popular treatment adopted by those suffering from swine flu is allopathic medication, it does not cure swine flu, it merely controls or reduces the symptoms. It is assumed, that subsiding the symptoms is as good as curing them, but in most cases the symptoms tend to reoccur. Homeopathy:

Homeopathic medicines that have been effective for the treatment of swine flu are, gelsemium, bryonia, oscillococcinum and eupatorium. Homeopathic medicines are derived from animal, plant and natural sources. These medicines may require some time to show their effect and the symptoms may also aggravate during their use, but the disease gets completely cured and does not relapse, once the homeopathic course is completed.

Ayurveda
Ayurveda has the best form of herbal remedies for swine flu. Ayurvedic medicines are made of pure natural substances and herbs and are also very effective in the prevention of swine flu. Ayurvedic medicines used as a remedy to relieve swine flu symptoms contain herbs like neem (Indian lilac), elderberry, ginger and pepper extracts. Once the symptoms have reduced, herbs such as triphala, echinacea, etc. can be taken to eliminate all the symptoms completely. Ayurveda boosts the immune system against the H1N1 virus. Echinacea is an important ayurvedic medicine used to treat all kinds of flu and is also essential in natural swine flu prevention. It works by treating infections and increasing the body's resistance against organisms.

Other Herbs
Other herbs that are useful in the treatment of swine flu include, adaptogens, olive leaves , oregano oil and traditional Chinese medicinal herbs like eleutherococcus, shisandra and codonopsis. Adaptogens are very effective antiviral herbs, that are resistant to biological and chemical stressors. Shishandra is used to treat viral flu and codonopsis strengthens the immune system by increasing the white blood cell and the red blood cell counts.

Supplements
Consuming dietary and vitamin supplements like vitamin C, vitamin D, etc. and certain probiotics can be useful in the treatment and prevention of swine flu. The supplements strengthen the immune system, to fight against the viruses and organisms causing swine flu.

Swine Flu Home Remedies
There are various home remedies that can be effective in relieving swine flu symptoms, along with the natural remedies for swine flu.
• A mixture of 1 tbsp of honey with 1/2 tbsp cinnamon powder can be consumed. This will relieve swine flu symptoms like cold, nasal congestion and sore throat.
• Steam inhalation with basil leaves added to the water, can also be helpful in relieving swine flu symptoms and relieving lung congestion.
• Chewing fresh garlic cloves is another effective home remedy as garlic is a good antiviral.
• Consuming lemon tea can relieve symptoms like cough, sore throat, headaches, etc.
• Washing hands regularly and covering of the mouth and nose, while venturing out, is an important method of swine flu prevention.
• Along with the treatment for swine flu, consuming 2 to 3 litres of water and taking adequate rest and sleep is very essential.
Swine flu can be treated effectively using the above mentioned herbs and remedies, and is a healthier option compared to the treatment with allopathic medicines and antivirals.

Tea made from Laxmi taru (simarouba) leaves, tulsi, amla and amrut (Giloy) act as immunity enhancers.

Taking ginger and turmeric powder mixed with either lime juice or honey twice a day will also boost immune system.
Agnihotra and burning sambrani dhoop (lobon stems) can counter airborne swine flu viruses as these are very potent atmospheric sterilizers.

Do not panic and keep your mind centered. Immunity level goes down with panic and fear. Practice pranayama, yoga, meditation and Sudarshan Kriya. It is easier to face any situation with a calm mind.

I would add that keeping the body alkalized is also important. Keeping the body pH between 7.6 and 8.0 will help keep the immune system functioning properly and help fight any infection. Sipping lemon water throughout the day, eating homemade organic vegetable soup, consuming plenty of leafy greens like kale and mustard greens, are important aids when balancing the body’s pH. Avoid refined foods especially sugar as it has been shown to suppress the immune system.

And keep a smile handy for all the friends you have yet to meet.
