Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

I've been vigorously searching for crone information and stories to share and to reach a better personal understanding of the opportunities presented at this time of life. I have found a mass of conflicting images and myths - some intentionally perpetrated by the aging out patriarchy - and much a result of the globalization of diverse cultures and belief systems. Many seemingly opposing ideas are in essence saying the same thing, yet that commonalty is often 'lost in translation'.

So I've been asking myself... what is the role of crone? What can we do as a seasoned group of concerned individuals?

Candice shared this great quote which I embraced, "A crone is not an age, nor is it a time, it is a state of mind for these women. What sets a crone apart, however, is her willingness to tell the truth about her life."

Is this perhaps the role of crone at this juncture in history... to speak the truths we can plainly see regarding our current chaotic diversity? ...to weave the variety of colors and textures in human cultures into a tapestry where each enhances the other?

(I ask this, not merely as a point of discussion, but am truly seeking a clearer vision of pragmatic purpose. As maiden and mother, my role was quite clear... but as crone, not so much.)

In her book Menopausal Years, Susun Weed suggested that Mother Earth may also be going thru her Change as the number of crones on the planet reaches critical mass. What we call chaos may be her signs of menopause: severe weather her hot flashes, economic disturbances the result of her mood swings. So perhaps our way in these times of global change is to practice what we needed when we navigated our personal change: compassion and support and acceptance and education and love, and yes, the willingess to speak our truth.
