"Appreciation is what makes people truly human. The Japanese word for thankful originally indicated a rare or unusual condition and later came to denote a sense of joyful appreciation for an uncommon occurrence. Having a spirit of appreciation for someone from whose actions we benefit, a sense that 'this is the rarest and noblest thing', produces in our hearts a feeling of pride and self-esteem: 'I am worthy of receiving such goodness.' It provides us with spiritual support to go on living." --Daisaku Ikeda, Learning from the Gosho, pg 28

Grateful to hear that friends are recouperating, and have weathered another storm. Glad to see my kid is wanting to excel in school. Perhaps more golf on the horizon this weekend, and a new business interest to explore.

I'm grateful to know that often in getting to the sweetness that is in the world, there must be some trudging though the crap....It's good fertilizer!

Hi Dr Mike...you just gave me a wonderful memory of my past with that song... it was pre-dawn in Sydney and my ex-boyfriend and I had previously just bought a converted Comma van as a campervan and were saying our farewells to my parents as we were leaving the rat-race to go fruit picking around Australia. He had some music going in the cassette deck, and as we left the last traces of the city, the sun was just rising as the Beatle's "Here Comes the Sun" came on - so sureal.....grateful to be leaving on a new adventure at the age of 19 ...or maybe 20...gosh, long time ago...I'll be half a century next year and very grateful to still have most of my marbles with me :))

Ron, it pleases me to see you coming into acceptance and seeing the beauty that is here today. This prayer lead me on one of my musical musings...

i thank you God for most this amazing

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
wich is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

I am grateful to be living in such a beautiful country and the fresh (gusty) air flowing through my home...or was that called a "gale"?!?! Seriously. I am grateful for the mountain views and the peace and lack of traffic.
