I have learned so much from ACIM, Eckhart (I do think it is rather disingeneuos that he does not give credit to the ACIM as a big part of his roots), Williamson, and Dyer both of whom give alot of credit to ACIM Especially, they really quote the Course on how "bad the ego is." I could quote several times where Eckhart talks about the need for "losing the ego", and even in his last paragraph - summary of The New Earth. One point I am trying to make is that an ego is a necessity, and we need it to be balanced - not too strong or too weak, and like Eckhart says we do need to be conscious of it to know.
whether it is balanced or not?
The main point is that we should not be fundamentalists! There are many people who think every word of these writings are sacrosant, and when it comes to their ego, they create an dichotomy within themselves which hurts them in the world.
And I have learned so much from this mostly magnificent writings. I have learned that "this too shall pass" (& the Buddhists), and have followed Tolle's advice to create a piece of jewelry with the words on it - mine is a cedar heart necklace. I have learned about the magic of "being here now" as much as possible, along with the quote from the Course that the "closest we can get to eternity, is by being in the moment." And how amazingly wonderful this case is
"There is a silence into which the world cannot intrude.
There is an ancient peace you carry in your heart and have not lost.
There is a sense of holiness in you that the thought of sin has never touched.
All this today you will remember." A Course in Miracles
The Essence is what is important - we are all One in Love Now, ron
"Just tear out those pages(of duality)",,,Bill Thetford told us.
Alexander I agree with Eckhart and Jesus on this one - "Love your enemies." Martin Luther King wrote the best about this in Courage to Love

I have been criticized by Eckart,
Dear Alexander,

if you like to help the world you have to have unconditional Love for everything, for you, for nature and for ALL people.
God loves all his children the "bad guis" and the "good guis" ! He does not judge ! With this kind of writing like below you wont find help ! On the other side it´s known to many people now thet the warming of our climate is wanted from nature . We are short before an Ice Age and every time there is a warming before an Ice Age. The scientist now it !!!! They only say it not aloud so there is no panic.
If you like to know more you may read the channelings by Kryon. Or Drunvalo Melchizedek and the Mayan, they all know it !

Love Light and Peace to you and ALL THAT IS

Eckart

What am I doing here? Looking for friends willing to help me save the planet. Don't expect me to accept your friendship unconditionally when we face a crisis. I love the earth more than I love the people in it. I have to, because without nature I lose everything including potential friends. Anyone unwilling to join me in this endeavor at http://savetheworldfree.ning.com no matter how much you do elsewhere, is going to find it har5d to get on my friends list. I wish I didn't have to be this harsh but I have read a lot of news about global warming thats not printed in the mainstream media. scientific research has underestimated the danger the world faces.

I am not sure how to respond or indeed if I should.

Ron, I've read Tolle, The Power of Now and The New Earth and nowhere did I find that he teaches we need to get rid of ego. He says only that we have to become aware of it and not let it get us in it's grips. Awareness is all I found in his teaching.

Right on, Right One, Alexander and Axel! Wise words, thank you, both, as One, ron

Treat everyone as you would your neighbor. Beyond this there is not much I can tell you that would not impinge on your right to be an independent person in the world of the mind and of the earth.

Let every voice but God's be still in me. In deepest silence, would I come to You, to hear Your Voice and to receive your Word."

Tolle says that, but then in his last paragraph like most teachers who start with ACIM , he tells us to lose the ego! Williamson and Dyer also preach this myth. There is no way we can do without our ego, while in our body, nor do we want to. I like Alexander's philosophy about the ego below. It matches the definition of the ego by Freud - our connector to the conscious. I do think we should be conscious of our ego, so we do not get an inflated ego, egocentric or an egomaniac. An unbalanced ego whether weak or overstrong is dangerous, and hides your light.
I got involved with an ACIM group in Wi. about 15 years ago in California. I really enjoyed the energy, until I listened to one of their teachers, who preached the Course, like a fundamentalist preacher of the Bible. Then arrogantly, he would not accept any questions. At the same time, a tv show (60 Minutes I think) was filming this workshop, and this ACIM group was exposed as a "cult". Needless, to say all of the other ACIM teachers disavowed them. If the teacher does not allow any questioning, that is usually a sign of a cult. Also, I had a friend whose brother and family gave up all of their possessions to join it (they had a church, a restaurant and a bread and breakfast Inn), and had a very difficult time getting out - another sign of a cult.
I don't believe in believing every word of anything including the Bible, ACIM, Koran, Tolle, Williamson, Dyer or even one of my favorite's Ernest Holmes the founder of the Science of Mind. I think it is a big problem to lose our sense of wonder at the mystery.

I bought Tolle's new book, "The New Earth" on audio and he talks a good deal about ego and makes it understandable. It is only when we are not conscious of the ego and its operation that we are it's mercy. The ego is our identity with form while we are formless. The thing about Tolle is that he is completely humorless.

Ron, I am reading the CIM and I have some questions. I was wondering if you would be willing to answer them if you could. I don't want to sucked into something I don't get. I was thinking of going to a CIM retreat this spring here in WI but backed out because I don't think I really know what these folks believe. I joined this group in the hope of getting better acquainted with the material.

Your ego is a part of the kingdom within, Love it, it will blossom, you will be light.

I have just returned from A Course in Miracles group in the tiny town of Pendleton, S.C. It was the most inspiring group I have been in since sitting in with Bill Thetford in Tiburon in the mid- 80's. Lee the leader made it very safe and open while keeping focus on reading the workbook then the text - a rare feat of good fair leadership. The most important message to me from the Bible has been "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and All shall be added." This chapter we read was all about the Kingdom: "the Kingdom is within you. The Kingdom is always here, it just requires our focus."

We did end up agreeing (most of us) that without the ego, we could not know God. One person kept talking about how she hated her ego. By the end of the group, lighthearted remarks like "Jesus" teaches only love - even the ego." and besides even if we hate the ego and consider it our enemy - Jesus says to love our enemies. "Need do nothing" - just Be, ron
