Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

This is my pal, ThinLizzy.

I met her on my way to campus at 45mph, and asked her not to jump.

When I returned to my Nighthawk after classes...6-hours later - I had the thought that she had found a new home. I felt a mix of joy and sadness as I pondered the unusual ride earlier that day.

Then, I noticed Little Lizzy - climbing up to see what was taking me so long! I laughed my head off as I took this photo.

"Alright then, shall we head back home Lizzy?" Next thing I know, she has moved onto my tank near the gas cap. She didn't move around too much until we were about 3/10mi from the house; on the second to last turn, as she cautiously made her way back up to this spot, once again my speedometer was near 45mph. I held my breath thinking, "don't jump, so close, please don't jump!"

And again, to my amazement she sat right there and spent the rest of the ride looking forward - out the screen. I swear this little Liz, reluctant at first, just settled in and appeared to be taking in the view as she was literally panning her head, looking around, enjoying the ride.

As I took my penultimate left turn 10 blocks from home, she began to pace a step forward and back while bobbing her head and chest up then down then forward and back, in a 4/4 rhythm! She was either doing the "pee pee dance" or knew we were close to arriving at point B.

By now, I was breathless, and beginning to feel like she was reading my thoughts! I was in awe of such a brave and steady rider!

My heart felt so full, in the rarest form of human experiences.

I pulled up in the driveway as my two daughters ran up yelling and laughing their daily greeting: Kai [6-y/o] at the time was going off like a firecracker - "MommyMommyMommyMommy- [breathe]MommyMommyMommyMommy!"
Meanwhile her older sister Atlantia, the 8-y/o, runs over and is mockingly competing with Kai's atonal mantra with: "MoomyMoomyMoomyMoomyMoomy MoomyMoomyMoomy!"

I was Laughing as usual, but as they prepared to charge, I raised my r-hand up and signaled the girls to slow down, and pointed to my passenger with my left - - as they followed the well-worn-in "mommy diriective" that means, "shhh, come here...look at this..." etc.

The coolest thing was that as my two little banshees came rushing up, Thin Lizzy, as if on cue, also scrambled, up to my side mirror to have a look at the girls! I was so thrilled when both the girls let out a tandem - "Awww! It's a lizard! How cute! Mom, how did she get there so fast?"

Well, there it is; one of my crazy nangents - hope you enjoyed this encounter of ours! If you did, leave me a comment... because there are more! I leave you with a few words from one of our greatest musical inspirations...
