We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.
From a friend of mine traveling in China right now:
I was invited to a special performance of The Holy Water Bodhisattava. This is a new show is provided by Zhang Jigang, the vice-director of The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 29th Olympic Games last August in Beijing. The newly customized theater is in Tian Long Yuan district near The Great Wall and The Ming Tombs. There are hundreds of local and foreign performers in the lavish show. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is sometimes referred to as the “Oriental Goddess of Mercy.” Her great vow is to listen to the cries of the world and help those in difficulty by providing them with aid. This unique performance displays her most important stories through a spectacle of dance, ice skating, swimming, acrobatics, music, ancient legend and all with reverence and grace. It is believed that the Goddess is far from our world but this show tells us how she is just inside our hearts. If love fills us, if we can be kind, if we have gratitude then everyone can be Guan Yin, or the Goddess of Mercy.
