A Little About Myself
This is the first time I've joined a social networking site and not been asked to tell something about myself. I guess i've been conditioned in that way, so here goes...
I am a historian and educator. I teach various history topics at the high school and community college levels. I love, love, love classic jazz. I grew up listening to Coltrane, Miles and many others. I use jazz in my class room to stimulate deeper thinking.
I participate in numerous cultural events. I teach with the arts because I believe that creativity and self expression reveal the highest order of the human intellect . I'm concerned about the future of the planet and perserving it for future generations.
If political labels have a true meaning in the scheme of things, I guess I'm proud to be labeled a "liberal."
I love sports. LeBron James and the Caveleirs are giving Clevelanders a thrill right now,, but I'm a long-suffering Browns fan (no explanation is necessary if you know what I mean).
Personal philosophy: "I love life. Life is good. I'ts not always easy or fair, but life is good!"
.

I must admit, I spend more time on Facebook (everyone and everything is presented to you all at once), but I am makeing a few excellent networking connections for the future.
See ya later Sherlynn.
I'm pretty nocturnal so anytime is good to call providing I'm not doing my music thing (smile). We are 3-hours apart so your 5PM is my 2PM. So if you are up at 5AM I'm probably up at 2AM. If you want to talk at 5PM its just 2PM in the afternoon here.. I'd say that between 7AM and High Noon EST are bad times. Everything else is open.
Talk to you soon.

Welcome!
It is so good to be in contact since we have such a long-standing friendship. Perhaps we shall remember to laugh and think as lovingly of our future as we do of our past.
I'll try to do better about staying intouch, but in all honesty, life just seems to get in the way. I'm going to make an effort to change my priorities, and keep people closer than work.
See ya later! Say "Hi" to everyone for me.
Doc
thanks accepting my friend request and thanks also for taking the time to visit my page. I find very it very interesting that we both share a passion for history and jazz music. especially using jazz music to stimulate deeper thinking is genius, much respect! I'm sure we'll talk more.
One Love
