Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

I think Bob Dylan expressed it even better than I could when he sang about life in his song "The Times They Are a Changing' in 1973; some of the lyrics are: "Come gather round people wherever you are and admit that the waters around you have grown....and if you don't start swimming, you will sink like a stone for the times they are a changin."

I think Bob Dylan was right -- and all those materialistic haters out there, who are more concerned with their financial bottom line than what may be in their hearts, should take note.

We need to go back to the values that made America great: respect and opportunities for all people, freedom from religious persecution, etc., a great appreciation of nature and what God has created....At least, these are my guiding principals....I'd rather go for a hike with my dog than a trip to the shopping mall anyday!

Please check out my latest blog....Although I am primarily a law student and short story writer, I also write poetry, too. Not a day goes by when I don't think about my Mom and what a great Guardian Angel she is to me....Comments from other Architects/Writers would be appreciated. Karin Piet

I would like to share one of my copyrighted and published poems with everyone; it is a tribute to my deceased mother, Hilde Dowler, a real "Storm Survivor."

STORM SURVIVORS

DEDICATED TO MY MOTHER, HILDE DOWLER (1923-1997)

We are storm survivors, you and i
We have watched the waters rise
and the floods cover the land
We have heard the whipping wind
Rip through the trees, and sought shelter
Relief, in our mutual belief
In the good of the universe

We are storm survivors, you and i
We have endured the beating rain
And feared the black sky,
We have heard the whoosh of winds,
Ominous presence in the brush,
And seen our shadows reflected back,
So peacefully, floating in the receding waters

finally,

The storm has ended.
The winds have weakened;
The rain has ceased
The dark skies now reveal
A bright, sunshiney day
A new gift from God…
We are storm survivors, You and I
.
