GE Healthcare employees in the Salt Lake City-area will participate in GE’s Community Service Day to help improve resources for the Kostopulos Dream Foundation program Camp Kostopulos. Camp Kostopulos is a summer camp dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities through recreation, education and growth experiences. The event brings together more than 500 Salt Lake City-based employees, retirees and other volunteers to lead several projects to improve the environment and resources at Camp Kostopulos. “We are proud to support Camp Kostopulos, an organization that provides invaluable, year-round experiences for people with disabilities in the Salt Lake Valley.”

Since 1967, the Kostopulos Dream Foundation has been dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Camp Kostopulos is a residential summer camp where children, teens, and adults with disabilities gain new skills and enrichment through outdoor recreation. Campers build confidence through activities such as fishing, horseback riding, swimming, navigating ropes courses, singing and arts and craft projects as well as making new friends. The camp offers year-round recreation for children, teens and adults.

“Volunteering is a key component of GE’s culture, andCommunity Service Day is an opportunity for GE employees to give back to the local community where we live and work,” said Joe Shrawder, President and CEO, Surgery, GE Healthcare. “We are proud to support Camp Kostopulos, an organization that provides invaluable, year-round experiences for people with disabilities in the Salt Lake Valley.”

GE coordinates volunteer efforts company-wide by keeping a close eye on societal needs and inviting all employees to work together to build stronger communities. GE employees and retirees contribute more than one million hours of service annually to local community initiatives, and there are now more than 175 GE Volunteers councils located in more than 46 countries around the world.

“We are humbled by the exceptional volunteer work of GE Healthcare employees, which goes beyond a monetary donation to provide time, effort and expertise to improve the resources at Camp Kostopulos,” said Gary Ethingtonexecutive director at Camp Kostopulos. “With the help of GE Volunteers, we will be able to provide a better environment and more resources to our campers and families, enabling us to continue to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in our local community and beyond.”

The Kostopulos Dream Foundation received a $17,000 grant from the GE Volunteers Grant Committee for Community Service Day projects.

GE would like to extend its thanks to Truco, Wasatch Heating and Air, Electric Insurance, Waste Management, Lowe’s and Sam’s Club for helping with tools and supplies for this day.
