We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.
("QTC Recycled" based on "Plastic recycle logo PVC" by Tomia)
« Questioning Tasteless Creepers » is one in a series of rehashes which come from reengineered ideas left over from other works. Other pieces of the band's repertoire, such as « Leftoverturned » and « Reinfused, » have also seen the light of day from that recycle/don't-throw-out-anything process.
At the beginning of 2008, Poligraf was selected to perform in the semi-finals of CONGA 2008, a local band contest, which had some specific rules about duration and repetition that restricted our setlists assembling options. To make a long story short, had we made it to the finals we would have needed an additional short piece for the encore. Thus a first draft entitled « In The Taste Of Countless Creepers » came about as a rehash of « Countless Questions, » «In The Taste Of The Day, » and « Creeper » just in time for the event (although we didn’t make it past the semis). I refined it a little later and finally decided to change its name to « Questioning Tasteless Creepers, » or « QTC » as I like to refer to it.
The second half of the piece, which is featured in the clip, begins with variations on themes from « In The Taste Of The Day, » including a canon for drums, bass, and electric guitar based on the song’s chorus. Then, a build-up segues into a reprise of the main riff from « Countless Questions » which leads to a reharmonization of the release section from the same track. The composition ends on a reworking of the ending solo of « Creeper » in a more relaxed mood and with an added counter-melody on a backdrop of synthesized mellotron.
