In these challenging times it is more important than ever to go within and listen to our own intuition. Tarot can offer a useful approach to inner guidance. Each archetype of the Tarot takes us on a journey of the Soul.
The Tarot deck is divided into two main parts. The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards-four “suits” just like regular playing cards. These suits are labeled differently in many decks, but are usually Wands (fire, passion & creativity), Swords (air, intellect & communication), Cups (water, emotion &relationships, intuition) and Pentacles (earth, money & the physical realm).
The Major Arcana ( Latin for “secret ”) is composed of 22 cards that represent symbolic communication, elements in the physical universe, and the experiences we encounter on our spiritual journeys.
This month the focus is on Aries (March 21 to April 19), “The Emperor” a member of the Tarot’s Major Arcana, representative of worldly power and achievement...at the expense of individuality and creativity. The Emperor illustrates qualities of leadership, strength, energy and assertive power. This is a card of conservative and old world traditions where individualism and revolutionary ideas will not be tolerated. Nonetheless, the Emperor is symbolic of a definite commitment to building something worthwhile for society as a whole. It represents the male archetype and, as such, signifies efficient codes of behavior, with focus on purpose and establishment of territory.
