Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

This letter was found in a jail

My name is not important. I should be dead. I may go to prison for ten years so I got strong. Not with push ups or by playing basketball. With the greatest weapon. As I read here in the midst of all this concrete and steel, I copied things from books that made sense to me, that sharpened my mind and spirit. I want to share them with you. You can only give away what you truly have. That’s why giving is receiving. The sayings on these pages are my gift to you. If one gives you strength copy it and share it.

Your name is not important. I don’t care why you are here, what you did, who you hurt, what color your skin is or what name you call GOD. Seeing beyond appearances and loving people is something I learned to do because it’s a commandment from GOD. So, if no one else has told you today – I love you.

There are people behind bars who are freer than people on the outside. Imagine that! If you do nothing else with your life, find inner peace. When you have it you will give it away and by sharing it you will keep it and increase it. This is how I am doing my time.

When you recognize and acknowledge GOD’s spirit and light in another person, even if they don’t know you’re doing it, your perception causes that Holy Fire to burn brighter.

There can be no exceptions.

Your mind is your sword. Keep it sharp and use it well.

- PEACE.

The Lord is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him.

The spirit of a strong man does not easily break, but he must be inwardly strong, secure in his beliefs and in what he is.

He who stands alone is often strongest. By standing alone he becomes stronger and remains strong.

A sword is never enough. The mind is also a weapon, but like the sword it must be kept honed and sharp.

There is no deliverance from a destiny decreed by GOD.

Live close to GOD and reflect his light.

Be sure of this. You would not be here unless you belonged here.

Bravery is merely the will to overcome fear.

Although we cannot stop pain from entering our lives, we can control our response to it.
We can choose to face our suffering with dignity.

Anger is your enemy – treat it like one.

Serenity is the master of restlessness.

Take what moments of happiness you can and accept the will of GOD. We must accept what GOD gives us and bear it with all the courage we can find.

The way of the warrior is honor, self discipline, bravery and simple living. What better place to perfect these skills than where you are right now?

Facing danger is a necessary part of learning.

You can’t judge a warrior in peacetime, nor a sword until it’s drawn.

Those who know GOD can jump into fire without being burned, walk on reality as if it were an illusion and on illusion as if it were reality. They can be at home wherever they are.

How can you know that GOD is the greatest hope unless you have been completely hopeless? Without the struggle of trials, the soul cannot develop and become what GOD intends it to be. You can’t tell the kind of man you are until the storm hits.

Know where you stand and what you believe, then be true to yourself in all things.

The goods of this world are soon lost. Fire, storm, thieves and war are ever with us, but what is stored in the mind is ours forever. I have lost even my sword. All that remains is what I have learned and some choice in how to use it.

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

A jewel cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trial.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

I was so close to hell you could smell the smoke on my clothes. But GOD in his mercy and love never gave up on me.

You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.

For every obstacle there is a solution over, under, around and through.

Inside each of us lies dark and light. It is our choice that determines our fate. We can always change our mind and choose again.

Prison need not be the end of the road, but the beginning of an interesting and productive life.

When we have inner peace we can be at peace with the world.

Some of the richest spiritual experiences ever known have not been in vaulted cathedrals surrounded by stained glass windows, but in the filthiest prison cells.

It is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.

He suddenly realized that he had to let go. He had no control over the past or future. All he could control was his mind in the here and now. This didn’t make life easier, just easier to bear.

You need a strong heart to resist the devil’s caresses.

When the presence of GOD is in your life it is unspeakable joy. He brings peace beyond understanding. Sickness is conquered. Broken hearts are restored. The darkness of depression is overcome by the light of the world and bondages are released. In his presence you have life that is greater than anything your mind can understand.

Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of GOD.
