Well said Veralynne! It's unfortunate many the artist gets into suffering and misery and the demise stereotypically goes the route of alcohol and drugs--whether illegal or legal. Their is a way out, but the celebrity has the even more extremely difficult route to take because their is little personal accountability. For a good read on that predictament I suggest Eric Clapton's autobiography, for additional illumination.

Dr Mike, Heal the World was the song that stayed in my mind since I heard the shocking news about Michael. I was devastated and yet almost happy for him. It was an emotional roller coaster: shocked but not really surprised. Sad that we'd have no new music, yet not really expecting any anyway. I choose not to remember negative aspects of his life because his mental condition rendered him forever a child, incapable of what had been alleged. I'll remember the humanitarian reflected in We Are the World, Heal the World, Black and White, Man in the Mirror, etc. Timeless, brilliant words of wisdom . . . and motivation for seekers and activists today. Greatness, genius and beauty is what we'll recall and the music remains--it was, as hackneyed as it sounds, the soundtrack of our lives.

I wanted to be one of the first to acknowledge the genius and legacy of that gentle, loving giant Michael Jackson. I am happy people, in general, are focusing on his great prolific gift, and humanitarianism, rather than the negative trials and tribulations that he experienced.

"Human Nature" was a song that helped me in difficult teenage years get to get through shit. I could relate just to wanting to be out of the house and just living. (And I still do, at age 41)
"Man in the Mirror" speaks for itself.

His work is vast. And though the "King of Pop" he really did have some profound things to say about humanity.
