I've just revisited some of the albums that Alex Ligertwood, Greg Rollie, Greg Walker, and others have graced us with thier singing ability, and........ I have to share my humble opinion on this topic....because after all we can appreciate the talent and style that each one has brought to the santana family. My pick is Greg Walker, somethng about his smooth and soulful sound....it just grabs you and takes you to an emotional place. Wouldn't it be great if he would come back and reunite with Calros and band...let's send it out the message to Carlos and Greg. Make it happen!!!
yeah wonderful pic my brother!!
I always tended to like whomever I first heard sing certain songs, but with Alex I would always like his versions of other Santana singer's songs. Someone mentioned the Rockpalast show and I'm sure its the version of Transendance that they are refering to. That is a perfect example of Alex doing a great job on a song that Greg Walker's honey dipped vocals made classic. In Contrast I thought Buddy Miles could sing the hell out of his own songs but I never really cared for his singing of the Santana catalog. Don't forget Alex's great singing on Somewhere in Heaven or Written in Sand if you don't think he had Santana classics of his own.
