Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

My dream is to create ways for the public schools to make money and help their community...I am working with Bruce Hill, head chef of BIX restaurant in San Francisco, and PICCO in Marin County to develop a program whereby the high schools in Acalanes District in Contra Costa Co, create a restaurant which serves great food at a good price. By linking efforts with DVCollege and others, the students will have a place to work, learn about business, perhaps helping Meals on Wheels, and others. Anyone who can help me make this dream a reality is invited to help.

Blessings,
We would like to help. Our site is www.peaceportal.mobi

To support the financial viability of each educational community, and family therein, a SCALE (Social Cooperative & Local Exchange) cooperative should be added. Things like clothing exchanges, books, toys, and all the things that kids outgrow but are still good could be a perfectly acceptable basis for a Group community credit system. Families could also exchange through this system items unrelated to the kids, from lawnmowers to Time (service) or goods otherwise sold on eBay or at the Garage sale, the relative wealth of the families involved would be much higher.

How much are new shoes, clothes, toys, books, etc... that could be obtained from another family who used it for maybe a year? a lot of money over a year. If everyone in this Group or educational community has a relative increase in expendable public money now, what is the increased collective value of the Group? It can be very significant. Besides the obvious economic benefit to a community exchange system like a SCALE is that it decreases the pressures on our natural environment by decreasing consumerism (new purchases) and the use of manufactured items (see the video "Story of Stuff." This must be one element in any long term strategy for a sustainable planet. LIVE Locally with a community recycling of stuff system (a SCALE) - and - THINK Globally as in the global knowledge marketplace, the opportunities are limited only by your imagination.
