Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

Traditionally used for meditation, Zen or Chan painting is an ancient art form started in China by Buddhist monks and priests using ink, paper, and bamboo brush. Rev.Yao Feng is a self-taught traditional Zen painter and ordained Buddhist priest who uses Chan painting for both meditation as well as a communication and connectivity. Twelve years ago he dedicated his life to walking the path of the Buddha.

Sadmonk says, “Painting has become a natural meditation for me, and a way to share my heart and mind with others. The Buddha’s teachings and meditation helped me to change my life from negative to positive.”

Yao, since 2006, is an officially ordained Zen Buddhist Priest of the Hsu Yun lineage. In addition to teaching Zen Painting classes for meditation and fun, locally, he currently offers counseling and Buddhist teachings through the internet and social network sites, “To share the Buddhas teachings and my own experience to others far and wide. I have lived in Eugene Oregon for the last 15 years with my family. Zen Painting is my meditation and way of life.”

He also offers classes from his home and abroad. If interested, you can contact Yao at: sadmonk@fastmail.us or find him and his gallery of Zen Paintings at:
