Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

While talking to an 80-something woman, she asked me directly, "what is your definition of crone?"

I said "IMHO... my humble definition... a crone is a woman who has passed the stages of maiden and mother, and has completed the menopausal transition to cronehood. She is womanhood in full power - within her being is a lover, a nurturer, an artist, an activist, a scientist, a teacher and a lifelong student, a high priestess and a creator. ...a goddess." She smiled.

Opportunity for fulfillment of a crone's life purpose increases - once past the householder years... raising the children, developing career, inner exploration, been there, done that. Cronehood is the time to crystallize experiential wisdom and manifest it into being. Invoke your truth, protect your tribe and vision the blossoming of change.

I'm an urban elder.
Its a vantage point that I sometimes, almost... feel guilty to assume.
My life is rich with experience and innocence revived...
not the innocence of youth,
but of a turning away from then to a new, clearer focus on that which is not yet.
to that which is becoming when I will not be,
to that which is spirit.

cronehood begins as a leaf leaves the tree
the leaf goes through a brilliant period of color changes
the leaf withers slowly with time and temperature
the leaf becomes a unique crystallized sculpture of multi-patterned cellulose
the leaf is a work of art
the leaf crumples and turns to dust

Cronehood is getting published. It is when the stories have been written, edited, and proofread... and its time to tell the truth... time to strip away the norms, convention, tradition and pride. Time to be who you really are while you have time.

This is really beautiful and meaningful, Jeanne. Time is now too short to not be authentic and speak my truth.

But, in writing this i would also like to add that from a scientific point of view, we do not all see truth in the same way. This is because there are actually 37 different configurations for "brain dominance". Brain dominance configurations cause our sensory filters to receive and send information in different ways or patterns. Hence 37 different people may be witnessing an incident and each one of them report it differently. So, each of us may speak a different truth.

We are each vibrating fields of energy/information and each of us vibrates at a different frequency. Dr. Helen V. Hunt was the first to discover that each of us has a "signatory" subtle energy field and we also have our own chaos pattern which causes "dis-ease". We also have the ability to change the frequency of our field so that we are either causing or healing our disease(s). More on this later.
Mary Rose or Gaia Rose or... you know who I mean...

So true... truth is subject to being experienced via circumstance and perspective... mostly... we only experience parts of truth at a time.

I'm glad you have the boldness and brevity to share yourself as you do, to share your collection... we all benefit when another steps outside of themself and shares a bit of what they're good at.

This essay is poignant, and yet harsh and blunt.
Time to tell the truth, strip away norms~~~
So hugely important right now---to chronicle who we are.
Thank you for this.

beautiful Jeanne - makes the act of sharing one's acquired experience, when asked (!!), a pleasure x M
Marian, I have have loved hearing and reading about cultures that treasured their elders... cultures where the elders knew their place... and it was honored. Cultures where the leading patriachs, consulted with leading matriarchs before making important decisions on behalf of the community.

I've no doubt that takes place on some levels and in some relationships... my husband and I always seek the opinion of the other when we want an objective point of view; but it is not an overall cultural concept... too many women have become increasingly disenfranchised with age... and in spite of the gifts they have to share, we are missing out on them.

I think crones are a resource to be tapped... a socio-cultural resource that could potentially benefit all. Crone time is not a time glorify the body... it is a time to glorify the mind and spirit... and the storehouse of experiential wisdom gained from living so well, that you should live so long.
