By Mary Rose: "Then, Colleen as to your message. Is there really a necessity to identify who is doing what with regard to drugs or any other addiction?" Heck no! That's why I said it was a waste of time to discuss it. I think you missed my point. :) My point was: "come ye, come ye, all those who wish the wonderful experience on the mountain!" I think Jeff got it, though. I really loved that movie, Close Encounters. Oh geez, some days, you just gotta laugh! One of my mystical friends described this sort of thing today as "divisive egotism." But, I think Elisabetta's message that attraction or repulsion never happens by chance, but serves to lead us through the path of inner evolution, is profound! In fact, Elisabetta, all of your screenplays described below sound wonderful! If they aren't playing soon in a neighborhood near us, they should be! Love and joy, Colleen

Jeff, i want to acknowledge you for your comments and support with regard to: "reaching humanity with a powerful, uplifting and multidimensional healing experience."

I am holding the field for the fullest potential to unfold now in this event in the best interests of all concerned.

Denise, i was unable to access the link you provided and am not able to comment, but will try again later.

First of all, i want to welcome Dorinne into the group. I find The Voice-Ear- Brain Connection to be extremely interesting in that it gets us directly into the biology of human consciousness and i want to learn more about this.

Then, Colleen as to your message. Is there really a necessity to identify who is doing what with regard to drugs or any other addiction? The important thing here, IMHO and as denoted by the statistics, is an indication of the magnitude of the challenge with which we are faced today as large numbers of people turn to both legal and illegal drugs on a massive scale as a solution to their problem. And the problem not being one of drugs per se, but of pain related largely to stress and an attempt to relieve it. The statistics given are provided by the National Institute of Health.

And, i feel it necessary to take all of us back to the beginning of this discussion and address the issue within the context of the question i originally asked re: Michael Jackson. Would his life have been different had he written and performed a different type of music? The answer appears to be "yes" from all the evidence we have gathered, and, in particular with regard to the Solfeggio Scale. But what I feel is more important is not just the question regarding Michael Jackson. What the real question is appears to be is: What are the implications of these findings as we contemplate the effect on society as a whole with regard to music that is being heard around the world every second of every day by millions of people -- a sound that produces a chaos pattern in the human system -- one that is continually reinforced? If the chanting of three priests can dissolve a large tumor, could the tumor along with other dis-eases, also be caused using certain vibrational frequencies in the form of music?

Even more important i feel is the question as to whether we can produce a product, based on sound, that can aid in transforming large segments of society from chemical and other addictive substance abuse, e.g., sex, gambling, over-consumption, over-eating, etc., etc. etc., into health and wellness using this modality? And, the answer appears to be a resounding "yes". .

Not long ago, i ran into this interesting article which sheds new light on drugs and addiction:

Lab habits

Do depressed lab rats dictate international drug policy?

* Buzz up!
* Digg it (10)

* Mark Pilkington
* The Guardian, Thursday 2 June 2005 00.07 BST

White Mouse

Happy mice don't become addicted to morphine. Chris Collins/Corbis
http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2005/jun/02/farout

The predominant model of drug addiction views it as a disease: humans and animals will use heroin or cocaine for as long as they are available. When the drugs run out, they will seek a fresh supply; the drugs, not the users, are in control.

These conclusions, repeated frequently by politicians and the media, are based on experiments carried out almost exclusively on animals, usually rats and monkeys, housed in metal cages and experiencing a particularly poor quality of life. What would happen, wondered psychologist Dr Bruce Alexander, then of British Columbia's Simon Fraser University, if these animals were instead provided with a comfortable, stimulating environment?

In 1981, Alexander built a 200sq ft home for lab rats. Rat Park, as it became known, was kept clean and temperate, while the rats were supplied with plenty of food and toys, along with places to dig, rest and mate. Alexander even painted the walls with a soothing natural backdrop of lakes and trees. He then installed two drips, one containing a morphine solution, the other plain water. This was rat heaven: but would happy rats develop morphine habits?

Try as he might, Alexander could not make junkies out of his rats. Even after being force-fed morphine for two months, when given the option, they chose plain water, despite experiencing mild withdrawal symptoms. He laced the morphine with sugar, but still they ignored it. Only when he added Naloxone, an opiate inhibitor, to the sugared morphine water, did they drink it.

Alexander simultaneously monitored rats kept in "normal" lab conditions: they consistently chose the morphine drip over plain water, sometimes consuming 16-20 times more than the Rat Parkers.

Alexander's findings - that deprived rats seek solace in opiates, while contented rats avoid them - dramatically contradict our currently held beliefs about addiction. So, how might society benefit if his results were applied to human addicts? Nobody seemed to care.

Rejected by Science and Nature, Alexander's paper was published in the obscure Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior, where it was summarily ignored.

Two decades later, Rat Park sits empty; addiction remains a disease and the war on drugs continues.

The question that has to be asked here is: How can we create an environment that is "heaven on earth for people and other lifeforms"? Can music be used as a major tool with which to achieve this affect? If so, how do we go about achieving it? What is it we can do here in this group to affect change on a mass scale given the magnitude of the problem?

As to your comment re: positive and negative, Colleen, i find these states, like beauty, to be in the eye of the beholder. If one puts up a road sign on a slippery curving mountain road saying "caution - slippery road ahead" is this negative? or, is it intended as a wake up call for the driver attempting to navigate this slope to be more conscious of the conditions s/he is about to enter into? Regardless, i very much enjoy interacting with you and appreciate your knowledge.

I am pleased to have joined this group. My work with sound-based therapy allows me to make major foundational change for individuals. My process is called The Davis Model of Sound Intervention. You can find out more information at my website www.thedaviscenter.com. I have a few books about my process such as Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy and Every Day A Miracle: Success Stories through Sound Therapy. I have also written a new book which is out to an agent so unpublished right now which to me is very exciting, as I feel I have identified a new subtle energy system called The Voice-Ear- Brain Connection and have discovered a way to use what the body tells us it needs through sound and then to reintroduce this sound back to the body so that self-healing occurs. I have been establishing this process since 1992 but have reached the stage where I need to find people to 'bring it to the world' I am pleased to join your group because like minded people can help this process.

reaching humanity with a powerful, uplifting and multidimensional healing experience seems like a good place to start. This includes anyone who is drawn to come liek those who were drawn to the mountain in Close Encounters.
Comment by Colleen O'Rourke on September 1, 2009 at 8:43am
Let us be totally honest: I think 100% of humanity has been wounded in some way...so if you start with that approach...any project would be helpful! That's a good thing. How are you guys separating out "drug takers," by the way? Do you mean pot smokers, people who take anxiety medication...or are you talking about cocaine and other hard drugs? It just seems to be out of place at this point in the discussion...very arbitrary and perhaps, judgmental. I know hundreds of physicians and attorneys - partners of large law firms - who take medications you would never know about for depression or whatever, so how would you even arrive at that conclusion about "who does" and "who doesn't" without having access to their medical records? It seems to be a time wasting discussion. Wouldn't you then need to include the martini drinkers and the nightly cocktail sippers? Just think it's beneficial to focus on healing everyone as if we were all the same. Or focus on the people who are interested and not worry about the sub-categories.
Comment by Colleen O'Rourke on September 1, 2009 at 8:19am
Of course! I was only putting a starting point on paper. We need input from as many in the group as possibile. That's the idea....or so I thought. That is why I was drawn to this group. Following are my responses to some of your comments, Mary Rose, starting with my personal philosophy that I always prefer to focus on the positive, because I believe that what you place your attention on grows stronger. If you focus on how many in the U.S. are legally mentally ill, that, to me, is defeating the whole purpose of positive change. As far as subliminal programming, if we are privately producing a product for large scale viewing in say, a domed setting, then we have the control to make sure no negative subliminal programming is input to the program, or to delete any negative programming which might appear. Quality control is our responsiblity. I think there are too many choices of DVD, videos,TV programming, downloads, which do not stand out, and not enough quality control or negativity prevention on these venues. That is not where I would put my time and efforts. My vision is to create a unique venue, something that is Different and will Grab Attention...and be effective. I think your comment that some would rather watch sports on TV is irrelevant to this discussion. This is, or so I thought, about creating a product about positive change; it is about healing with sound and color and light. There is still plenty of time to watch sports. It sounds like we are not on the same page, and may be discussing apples and oranges... but that's ok - it is better to clear it up and gather together with like-minded people.

Are you speaking of Len Horowitz who produced the H2o Concert? He would be a great person to hear from! But...as much advertising as that one concert received, and as much as I wanted to see it, I still missed it! We need something that is continually playing and available. I think there is a way to produce a quality healing entertainment product on a large scale, with different themes for different tastes. No, I don't think it would heal someone with a serious large tumor, but I didn't think that was what the purpose was. Let's keep positive and optimistic. All things are possibile, even miracles, with love. Dorinne just joined the group, so hopefull we will have her input too as soon as she has time.
Comment by Jeff Hutner on September 1, 2009 at 8:13am
What strikes me is the whatever content is ultimately arrived at, all venues and forms of distribution should be used to reach the widest possible audience. It's not an either or decision making process for me but rather a both and. And perhaps there can be different content for the mentally ill, drug takers, etc that speaks to each group in its won langusge and imagery. Either through one of a kind projects or an inclusive piece that addresses the challenge head on with novel approaches to communicating. Beyond the dysfunction lies an untarnished whole being. Communicating with that part of the audience (and who has not been wounded in some way) would be a great goal for the project (s).
