Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

WHO CREATES PEACE

We do together; it takes all of You, Me and all the other living conscious human beings with a Spiritual Body and Soul to first choose it in their mental body, then demonstrate it as actions of their Physical self.

Time Magazine in choosing their person of the Year [for 2006] as those whom are building a Digital Democracy can help us achieve this goal together, because we are already inter-connected.

"Web 2.0 is a massive social experiment... an opportunity to build a new kind of international understanding, not politician to politician, great man to great man, but citizen to citizen, person to person." - Time, Dec 25 of 2006

As the Time article points out, many more "You's" will be joining the digital realms, and eventually, as access opens further to the corresponding digital economy, we'll see greater productivity.

"We're looking at an explosion of productivity and innovation, and it's just getting started, as millions of minds that would otherwise have drowned in obscurity get backhauled into the global intellectual economy."

Is the world ready for this, is it ready for You?

Absolutely, as Time states "The new Web is a very different thing. It's a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter. Silicon Valley consultants call it Web 2.0, as if it were a new version of some old software. But it's really a revolution. "And we are so ready for it."

If you are ready to be a Time Magazine Person of the Year, or YOU already are that Person, I applaud you for your boldness and invite you to share who You are with others here at AOAND. As the following quotes from those more authoritative than me will relate, it is really up to all of Us/You to act in Unity as a planetary family, or we pay the consequences as a species.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it's the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead

"Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person." ~ Mother Teresa

"I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments.   Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it." ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower

Yes it is you, me, and all the other real living-breathing people of the word.

By its existence, the Peace Movement denies that governments know best; it stands for a different order of priorities: the human race comes first. ~ Martha Gellhorn

Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of war. ~ Maria Montessori

It is clear that the nations of the world now can only rise and fall together. It is not a question of one nation winning at the expense of another. We must all help one another or all perish together. ~ Carl Sagan

Peace - the word evokes the simplest and most cherished dream of humanity. Peace is, and has always been, the ultimate human aspiration. And yet our history overwhelmingly shows that while we speak incessantly of peace, our actions tell a very different story. -- Javier Perez de Cuellar

So what is needed for the People to create Peace?

I believe that at its core, peace is dependent upon the people having equal access to education, a sustainable wage, and freedom.

"Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free." ~ 14th Dalai Lama

The progress of freedom depends more upon the maintenance of peace, the spread of commerce, and the diffusion of education, than upon the labours of cabinets and foreign offices. ~ Richard Cobden

Without free, self-respecting and autonomous citizens there can be no free and independent nations. Without internal peace, that is, peace among citizens and between the citizens and the state, there can be no guarantee of external peace. ~ Vaclav Havel

You cannot separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom. ~ Malcolm X

Now that we are in the information Age, we have new potentials and just possibly together we the living people can create peace, security, and prosperity in lieu of governments propensity to spend on war as opposed to peace.

There has always been a longing in the human heart for a more just, free, loving and creative society. But it was never before possible to fulfill these aspirations, because we had neither the evolutionary drivers and global crises to force us to change, nor did we have the scientific and technological powers that can free us from the limitations of scarcity, poverty, disease, and ignorance. This is the time of awakening for the social potential movement. ~ Barbara Marx Hubbard

Indeed it is.

"For the first time, those who can educate themselves will be almost entirely free to invent their own work and realize the full benefits of their own productivity. Genius will be unleashed, freed from both the oppression of government and the drags of racial and ethnic prejudice

The Information Age will be the age of upward mobility. It will afford far more equal opportunity for the billions of humans in parts of the world that never shared fully in the prosperity of industrial society.
~ Sovereign Individual

For better or worse, Peace must be our Choice

Let us not deceive ourselves: we must elect world peace or world destruction. ~ Bernard Mannes Baruch

The answer is development of the impoverished, uneducated, and unequal portions of the planets population. This is the purpose of the Peace Portal.

In today's wars especially there is a significant relationship between underdevelopment and armed conflict. Societies incapable of meeting their citizens' needs are the most liable to break down; conflict, in turn, does lasting damage to the political, social and economic foundations of any stable and prosperous society.

The lesson that the communities of the world have yet to understand fully is that security - peace - is not primarily a matter of military preparedness. Peace cannot be enforced where social and economic conditions fail to sustain it; it must, instead be created.

Creating peace can be fun and interesting, lets do it together
