Architects of a New Dawn

We’d like to show the side of the world you don’t normally see on television.

What a speech!!

I congratulate all Americans on this historic day. At times like these I wish I could be part of the American dream, to be motivated and inspired in this way. May America play a leading role in the awakening of a new dawn. I have no doubt that nothing is impossible for an inspired and committed nation.

To your success!

I am just thankful I did not see any of the violence nor had any idea it was happening until later. I was young and very stoned at the time and it would have been very hard to see what happened first hand.

Actually when I arrived home my little old grandma called me up from the East Coast before I heard about the violence. She had heard about the violence on the news and was horrified when I told her I just had just arrived home from wonderful concert at Altamont. I am sure her son got a earful after I spoke with her.
American people have very good hearts and intentions. For once in this time in history, all I want to see is for America to play part in in the the awakening of a new dawn, just as any nation with a tiny, medium or big size economy. It is time that America becomes part of the world and interacts with other nation in a humble manner. It is best for all nations to lead and all to be able to have equal participation in the harmonization of humanity. All nations have different ways, different cultures, different economies etc. however we all have equal human rights. Leading the world is not so much important as to be able to participate on equal grounds.
James.....I believe the stabbing victim was armed, and may have discharged his weapon, if my memory serves me. I also recall that the Hells Angels were hired to provide security and paid with beer. You could probably find the footage on Youtube.

Damn, I just read about the altercation. But I have been friends with a few bikers over the years, and they would probably tell you the same thing. Self defense. There is too much word of mouth on the subject. But when there are that many people gathered, things like this can happen anywhere. Individuals are smart, crowds are usually brought down a level, because of the mob mentality. I have seen bottles thrown, cigarettes flicked at the opening acts, etc. Hell, I've even yelled at first act people and told them to get off the stage, back when I was younger, and didn't realize how hard it is to perform. but I think that could have happened anywhere. Jim Morrison was known for his Riot psychology techniques at a show, and he would get whole crowds to follow him around and take off clothes, and other various things. So the fact that a man was stabbed at a concert involving the Hells Angels, and a guy with a gun doesn't surprise me. Sorry, just being blunt. People were drunk, stoned, tripping, hell that sounds about right.
James........Marinspin and have been communicating right along.....we just disagree about a few things. As I had said before I respect anybody that stands up for their beliefs, regardless of whether or not I agree with them. She is obviously a thoughtful and compassionate, and sensitive woman. I am greatful for the chance to exchange with her, and the other folks on this site. I realize that I am in a distinct minority here. That is something that I have come to accept, even in my relationships with friends and family. It's okay though. I make no apologies.

It's good to see Marinspin and Bill communicating. Hopefully this page can do that for many people. I am ignorant on the Altamont situation. Looks like I'll have to do research on that one.
Well Bill because you are being so complimentary I have decided not to serve you up with any shoulder of goat. The idea of eating goat shoulder is just not very appealing anyway. They now have added rabbit to the menu at the new restaurant in town. I do eat meat yet I am selective about what animals I care to eat. Maybe I need to go back to consuming no meat again. We do have excellent Thai restaurants here so if you come for a visit we can skip the once Mexican restaurant recently turned into the Italian goat/rabbit palace and we can go out for Thai that is if you like Thai food?
Thanks for the invitation. I don't mind a little spice in food, but I'm certainly not one of those people that makes sport of eating hot, spicey food to the point of being masochistic. ( I know some ) I was treated to dinner at a Thai restaurant in Japan some years ago. It was my first, and last by the way. I was not prepared. For fear of offending my Japanese hosts, I forced myself to eat most of the meal. It was torture.

Pierre,
May I invite you into a world beyond Nations, where the dream of liberty, equal rights and justice, is our common legacy. Yes We Can. We are not separate, we are one !
I wonder when we will get off the fluffy cloud of peace, and come down to reality. Lasting peace starts within the "self." All of the prohetic words everyone lives by, calling a human being "savior", and various other pedestal raising titles makes me want to hurl. He is a man, and I hope he can do what he has set out to do. We will need to support him as a human being, not a super hero. If we truly want to have worldwide coexistance, then we are going to have to learn to be understanding that our leaders are human, and that we need to stop living with our future predetermined.

Bill the Thai restaurants here are very good about preparing mild dishes when asked to. I can't do spicy either. I think one of the most memorable meals I ever had was actually eating sushi in Japan at the airport of all places while waiting for a flight.

I am still celebrating the election of Barack Obama. For anyone living in Marin County and I know there are at least a few of us on this website there is a heart warming article about the inaugural journey in this weeks Pt. Reyes Light. It was written by Jeff Wessner who attended the event with his son in-law Bobby Titcomb who is one of Barack's oldest friends from High School.

When they were younger Bobby and Barack spent their time in the ocean surfing and spear fishing with scuba. They sold their catch to the fish markets in Honolulu.

Jeff Wessner attended a prayer service at the National Cathedral. He sat behind Barack's paternal grandmother from Kenya and just to the right of the Clintons and Obamas. The female minister told the story of an ancient Indian Chieftain.

The Chieftain tells his grandson that each of us has two wolves fighting for control of our soul. One is a cruel wolf and the other a compassionate wolf. The grandson at the end of the story asks his grandfather which wolf wins. The chieftain replies, "The one you feed."

Reading this article did bring tears to my eyes. I do believe Obama will bring new and wonderful things to the world. Sure he has a hard road in front of him and no leader is perfect but I do think he has a lot of great ideas and a lot to offer the planet and it's people.
I am glad that we as a nation are trying to point our heads torwards the future. I just think that grounded ideas and grounded points of reference are needed. We don't even educate our children anymore. The schools are a testing baby sitter, with a hint of Naziism if you ask me. My daughter's school doesn't let them speak during their lunch break, nor go outside for a recess on a daily basis. If they have all their work done at the end of the week they may be able to go out on Friday, if the teacher is feeling good that day. I have joined in the PTA, and I listen to what they have to say about it. It's a load of bunk they always try to feed to parents. It's not us, it's the government. It's the curriculum. Hell, they don't even teach them about the new planets that have been discovered in our solar system. How crazed is that? This is where, as a nation we need to be paying attention more. Get involved in the real life situations of these kids, and make damn sure if they aren't educated at school to do it at home. Sorry to rant here, but I have heard a lot of talk about Obama, and how he's going to "Save us all." Not even the African American community buy that load of crap. He spent $160,000,00 on his inauguration. We're broke as a nation, and he's spending enough money to buy everyone on here a college education! Give me a break, man. He is going to be just as everyone else has been, in office. Why did he not try and do anything in all the other offices he was appointed, except for look forward to the next one? Power hungry much? Check that stuff out, and give me some real feed back. Not some namby pamby, "Obama is the savior."
Marinspin......Perhaps I should give the Thai food a second chance. I had Indonesian food a couple of times. It was alright, though I'm not sure exactly what some of it was. I know what beef tastes like, as well as pork, lamb, chicken etc.....and it was none of those, I can tell you. That was in Amsterdam. Who knows what they allow there.

Like I said earlier, party on! To me, this whole ( Obama ) thing is taking on a very creepy cult-like complection, both in his own rhetoric, and in the rhetoric of his throngs of devotee's, like Marc for instance. Yikes!
