Transformation is an interesting word. Reform assumes part or all of something is worth saving. Transform is the opposite.
Media. Is media just music, video, books, the Internet.
Communications is a two way street. sender and receiver both can alter the intent

Your comment: am telling you that within my life time I will see most of the desserts returned to productive agriculture and the species of fishes remaining expanded to a capacity that allows many humans the pleasure of consuming these wonderful species without the guilt that they will be "fished out".

Discussion:: Again 'wonderful vision" and prediction, we seem to be hung up on 'vision' after 'vision' with no concern for practical process. Our founding fathers like Ben Franklin who is still with us in many ways, seems to be forgotten, as this legacy that made America a grant nation.

Must we all become Hagel or Confucious and spent the rest of our rapidly dwending non-renewable resource in vision and philosophy in this ning group ?

Please just give me a 'yes' or 'no" so that i know where to spend my limited and rapidly dwendling time !. Thanks .

In some sort of a mix-up, Deborah's message below was posted to my personal page while intended to be posted here. So, for clarity, i am posting it here and will respond shortly. I have a very heavy work load today so step-by-step as time allows.

Dear Mary Rose,
I admire what you have done but I must disagree with the concept that all human work will not be required in the future. Yes we will develop nano technology but we will still build a wide variety of items that will enable us to first colonize the moon and then proceed to one planet after the other but before that we need to cultivate the riches of the Ocean. Our diversity of fish is dwindling due to careless methods of harvesting, pollution, and total lack of management of these natural resources.
The so-called loss of natural resources is also a false cry of wolf. We have resources we have yet to discover that will be utilized in the future. Let us look at Lithium for instance. Had you said to someone in 1920 that they should invest in Lithium they would have laughed at you. Today it is a key ingredient in modern batteries for cell phones, computers, and vehicles.
The desire by some to return to a Utopian agricultural life style is unrealistic because there is, quite simply, not enough land to go around.
I am telling you that within my life time I will see most of the desserts returned to productive agriculture and the species of fishes remaining expanded to a capacity that allows many humans the pleasure of consuming these wonderful species without the guilt that they will be "fished out".
Love & Peace, Deborah

Discussion: This is a valueable insight and vision. But to get to a "mission" on a small group or individual basis, "actionable knowldge' is required, inspired by one or more individuals in small group. This is best done, where the biggest opportunity lies, is on a community level, people who live in the same geogrpahy to allow 'trust', or long time friends or family, who may live far apart, but due to this 'prior' 'trust' , can participate on a virtual team.

One current oppoutnity is clearly via the Stimulous Package (SP) grants that are already on the table, as publically announced by U.S goverment six months ago, for every state, with most money going to the biggest States like TX, VA, CA, NY and IL. But SP is no give away, required PPP (Private Public Partnership). Any interest on details on this funding process and opportunity currently ?

Mary Rose, If I carried a conversation from here to your personal page I am sorry for it was unintentional. NING does it's own thing sometimes. So here I am and I would like it if you explain to me what you feel I have misinterpreted. I deal with many issues in even a day and do not always recall off the top of my head what response I have written and to what post.

Yes, diverse attitudes and approaches are gathered here to inspire ideas and possible collaborations. I question where any point is off topic as Carlo has suggested... Further, understanding a situation is in part a sensual phenomena but mostly an energetic phenomena that requires discernment and wisdom as well as analytical prowess. We are all challenged to address what we experience as compatible with our own sensibilities. Full comprehension evolves over time like owning a book for many years that suddenly beckons you to read it. Advertisers follow the principle that a person does not fully see a products content until they have seen it 4-6 times, thus repetitive commercials. The choice to be on this webpage is itself evidence of the compatibility shared by those seeking to inspire themselves and others.

Thank you for your reply, waldenthreecoordinator. The potential for forums such as this one is huge. Without structure or clarity of purpose, it cannot approach its potential. If its just a bunch of people kicking around ideas or mostly just sharing their own ideas without getting feedback or encouragement, then it may as well just be an advertising venue.
To me there are three kinds of basic posts that make real contributions to a forum like this:
(1) "This is my vision for creating transformative media/current projects/ what I am doing in that arena now."
(2) Feedback, encouragement, support links, connections for those who post the above type of posting
(3) Inspiration: Recommendations of currently available media or other sources of inspiration for those who create or would like to promote transformational media

To answer your question about community TV: there are a number of facets to it, and I do not understand your focus and the meaning of "anchor" as you use it here. You might experiment with creating different ways of clearly expressing your vision powerfully in just one minute. Clearly expressing your vision to self and others strengthens it. Seems to me that the key is to create allies, people in the area reached by that community TV station who you can touch with your vision. There is power in agreement and in community. Many local cable systems have time slots available for programming, just requiring the people who produce it to take some training and to learn how to use the equipment that is made available ofor free. If you want to learn more about grants, it is easy to find organizations that have received grants for related kinds of projects. Maybe buy em lunch. Learn. Ask how you can support their vision.

I would encourage you to consider posting a brief expression of your vision here and asking for support, connections, feedback. Together, we are more powerful.

@waldenthreecoordinator - Not to take anything away from this group or AOAND, but i do feel different groups are set up to do different things. And in this instance, a group that might be more responsive to what you are trying to accomplish is the TransitionUS group. www.transitionUS.ning.com

This group was set up by Les Squires as an offshoot of the Transition Towns movement which originated out of Europe and is moving around the world. And while it is called "Transition" there can be no doubt that it is "transformational" in intent as those involved are intent on creating small localized sustainable communities that are able to meet their needs from within the community itself. This was initially done in order to deal with peak oil but now i do believe the intent is to prepare for the affects of global climate change as well.

There is a great deal of awareness within this organization that we cannot continue with "business as usual" -- we simply do not have the resources to do so. Not are we any longer in the "industrial age" -- we have moved into the Age of Knowledge and must be prepared for the down-sizing that is going to accompany this transition as new technologies replace the need for human labor.

Anyway, the TransitionUS organization is configured in such as way as to bring about the "community to community cooperation" and "celebrating of ethnic voices" you want. What Les Squires did was to set up a grid across the US by establishing a headquarters for Transition in each state in the US so that large groups that are compatible, for instance mine: Future Dawning Enterprises, can move in and link the people associated with FDE in any location to the Transition movement. In this way, we are building a network of small community groups to one another across the US so that when enough people join in, no one will be very far from a live group where they can go and attend meetings so everyone is working together and on the same page.

And, while these are not going to be "cookie cutter" communities, when a new group forms they will know what has already been accomplished and that is working and not have to go out and re-invent the wheel.

But AOAND seems to fall into a different category, and in particular this group. What appears to me, and please correct me if i am wrong, is that AOAND and this group are oriented toward providing the content to be disseminated in the form of entertainment to the mass audience.

But, Ed's intent is to also build the dome's that will serve as venues for some of the content that is developed both here and on AOAND as a whole. So, in this respect, i feel it would be good for Ed to connect with the Holodynamics movement because that movement is developing some extraordinary building materials and energy devices that are available no where else at the present time. And, since he is an architect, i suggest that John Gil may want to investigate this venue as well.

But that does not mean leaving this venue -- Future Dawning Enterprises is now a consulting firm, but i have also developed a virtual learning center and think tank which encompasses 14 different websites linked together with each one having its own specialty, so to speak, but linked together because they are all related. As well i belong to about 30 or more different Ning-based websites all of which are related to the mission of Future Dawning.org and overlap in mission with what i am doing.

And what i am trying to say here is that as we move into another level of conscious awareness as a collective society, we are self-organizing into new configurations that eliminate competition and allow for greater cooperation. But, we aren't all where we need to be as yet -- and this is going to take a lot of discussion along with compassion, understanding and cooperation as we each figure out where we both want and need to be. And the same is true of groups like this one and the father of this group AOAND.

I notice that AOAND is continually putting a pop-up asking a question every time i log in, and attempting to find out what it is i want and need from them. Thank you Ric.

And the same needs to happen with this group -- and each group and each organization is going to have to link up with other groups and organizations in order to be complete just like an auto company cannot operate without having parts suppliers.

And, please if people want to just pop in and introduce themselves without participating in the dialog, then let's welcome them not judge what they are doing.

With love and appreciation to all.

Your vision statement ?

Discussion:

Thanks for this valuable comment. But this vision must be examined deeper in the context of "community to community cooperation" and 'celebrating ethnic voices' as is possible via such existing tools as "community tv media', supplemented by emerging internet tools. for example, here in our virginia region, we are seeking such collaboration with other commnities via the "Twin Project' leveraging the vision and requirmens of public private partnership (PPP) of a stimulous package grant as announced by u.s. government six months ago publically to state agencies, for example.

How do we connect your vision via thnking globally but acting locally to this emerging opportunity via anchor at non-commerical community tv media ?

Thank you for your postings here. I know that my directness here in the past has resulted in some taking offense. That is not what I intend, but I do intend to respond with my own brand of truth.
What concerns me with this group---and many other groups on various consciousness sites---is that most often we do not have discussion but simply people putting out their own ideas that are often off-topic for the "discussion" or are off-topic for the group.
What I would like to see more of on this group are people responding to each other with encouragment, connection with other like minds via links, and supportive ideas. I would suggest that if you are not responding to a previous post in a current disussion that you use the Start Discussion link on the upper left.
I love what Craig and Yuri and many of you are offering, but at the same time, what I see so often here are postings in which there is no response at all to the person most recently posted, so it sometimes looks to me like this is interrupted by people who want to advertise their own agenda or product that has nothing to do with the discussion.
With that vision in mind: Thank you Craig for the powerful Hawaiian history lesson. It is timely in that I am moving to the big island next month after 58 years on the mainland. What an eye-opener! Will be in touch via email to see how I may be of support.
And Yuri, thank you for what you are doing. We are all messengers and lightgivers following heart.
John, thank you for expressing your vision so clearly. When I do this for myself, I find that it inspires me, amps up my motivation to create my vision.
For all of us, I think, this group can become a more practical and effective way of sharing that which is important to us and creating alliances that will propel and unite us.
