On December 21, 2012 - where will you be?

In this day and age of rapid paced media, I find myself faced with a barrage of doomsday scenarios correlating to the year 2012. If it isn't comets crashing into the planet, the earth shifting on its axis, tidal waves, nuclear war, particle accelerators creating black holes, pandemics, planet X and a morbid assortment of mega disasters, its dire predictions from the Mayan calendar, Nostradamus,
Edgar Cayce, the bible, astrologers, and various religious leaders all telling us to prepare for the end. And have you noticed in recent years how many survival shows are being produced? Survivor Man, Man vs Wild, Survivor, and The Colony just to name a few. Are we being prepared for whats to come? Does our government know something we don't know?

In the year 2009, with the clock ticking ever closer to 2012 I am confused. Are we all on death row and blindly hoping all the signs and predictions are wrong?

These days I feel much like a man who has been diagnosed with cancer and been given less than 3 years to live...I don't know whether to start compiling my bucket list and travel and take one last look at our world, start stocking up on survival supplies, build a safe room or just cross my fingers and believe this Earth will be granted some sort of divine global remission.

I started this topic because I don't believe I am alone in feeling confused about our impending future. With that being said, what do you believe? How will you prepare? Will you prepare?

Yeah I get pretty riled watching the news too so I can relate to that, Holly. Consequently, we don't have a TV anymore. By the time we got rid of it, it was flocked and pebbdashed with dried museli from me watching breakfast news (I must remember to swallow before hollering "BASTARDS!!!!") I think getting rid of it was a good move.

All we can truly do is take Ghandi's advice and be the change we want to see in the world. Judging others, trying to impose changes is just fruitless and leads to a "caved in heart" (sometimes literally).

"Cancel" sounds like a good NLP anchor to me.

Joan Im like you .. I get overwhelmed with anger and sadness watching people spew hatred and try to undermine all that is good in the world or what could be good in the world.

Like the line from American Beauty - "... sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in. "

I see people chanting hatred and lies and cruelty and I feel like "... sometimes there's so much evil in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

I find if I give into that feeling or dwell on the atrocities and evil in the world , it physically makes me sick.

The other day I was off on one of my tangents, throwing my arms in the air and ranting at the news screaming how can they get away lying like that! When I became overwhelmed and had to calm myself and all of a sudden I heard the words "cancel" .. I heard an old familiar voice. It was Grace .. and I dont mean that metaphorically .. it was the voice of a woman I met years ago named Grace. She was in her 70's and she lived out of a old VW van and traveled around painting signs for people. She was an excellent artist and was what most people would call a real character. I was 28 at the time and I found her vagabond life fascinating and we became close friends. In our long conversations I would start complaining and she would hold her hands up and say CANCEL! She would startle me with her declarations ,, but they had purpose. She would say if I let negativity in ,, it would stick and I would live a miserable life. She also said if I say something enough.. it will become so. ( HEY I won the lottery Hey I won the lottery Hey I won the lottery ) not really .. still working on that one :) I could write a book about Grace and her nudist camp, wiccan, wonderful ways.. she was a true Crone.

So lately I have been trying to fill my life with Grace ...

I cant imagine the inner turmoil you felt when confronted with that situation. It saddens me to know that some doctors are more concerned with getting paid than actually healing the sick. Who administers the oath that doctors are supposed to abide by these days?

Comment by bev bryant on August 27, 2009 at 3:57am: So many, including children have mentioned the Mayan calendar end in 2012 with this "look" and cite the Bibles prediction of "end times" with some sort of foreboding and yet The Good Lord has promised to care for us through times of trouble. It is my strong feeling this change has been in occurrence for sometime and we are on the dawn of another age of enlightenment, more drastic than the one in the 1600's where a new freedom came about from the advent of the novel, giving women an option for self reliance and income. Thanks Jane Austin! Now we all find with this internet grown from experiments in atomic molecular collisions underground, a way to communicate through a "glass sea" and airwaves to work together toward a peaceful and loving population on planet earth as a whole. God works in mysterious ways; and sometimes not so mysterious as we unlock the secrets to joyful exoression for all man (and woman) kind. Kind being the operative word for this shows love.
