Time to make a bucket list?

On December 21, 2012 - where will you be?

In this day and age of rapid paced media, I find myself faced with a barrage of doomsday scenarios correlating to the year 2012. If it isn't comets crashing into the planet, the earth shifting on its axis, tidal waves, nuclear war, particle accelerators creating black holes, pandemics, planet X and a morbid assortment of mega disasters, its dire predictions from the Mayan calendar, Nostradamus,
Edgar Cayce, the bible, astrologers, and various religious leaders all telling us to prepare for the end. And have you noticed in recent years how many survival shows are being produced? Survivor Man, Man vs Wild, Survivor, and The Colony just to name a few. Are we being prepared for whats to come? Does our government know something we don't know?

In the year 2009, with the clock ticking ever closer to 2012 I am confused. Are we all on death row and blindly hoping all the signs and predictions are wrong?

These days I feel much like a man who has been diagnosed with cancer and been given less than 3 years to live...I don't know whether to start compiling my bucket list and travel and take one last look at our world, start stocking up on survival supplies, build a safe room or just cross my fingers and believe this Earth will be granted some sort of divine global remission.

I started this topic because I don't believe I am alone in feeling confused about our impending future. With that being said, what do you believe? How will you prepare? Will you prepare?

On December 21, 2012 - where will you be?

Actually, I was going to have a hysterectomy but I was told I couldn't because I'm a man. I thought that was a clear case of sex discrimination if ever I've seen one. I thought a hysterectomy was having my hysteria removed but apparently not.

I know what im not going to do...I'm not going to have a hysterectomy and hop on the tail of a comet.

Joan, one thing is for sure: 2012 will happen. After all, 2009 happened and, before that, 2008 happened. There is a good chance that 2010 will happen and, if we keep going at this rate, 2012 looks pretty much set to happen. Whether it will live up to expectations, is another matter......

My major concerns about the 2012 prophesy is that it will generate despondency. I'd hate to see our personal evolutions grind to a halt because we're expecting everything to change one way or another in a few years and I just don't see how planning for a possible event like this can be a positive move. Having researched the science I see very little to suggest that any of the astrological events due in 2012 and impressively predicted by the very sophisticated Mayans are indicative of an end of world scenario but I can see why the Mayans would have used these events to mark the end of one time and the beginning of another; much like we’ve always used the rise and fall of the sun to mark time. Every new day has the potential to bring something new but to spend all of Wednesday trying to work out what Thursday will be like is an utter waste of a day.
Right now we live in an amazing time where global communication has allowed us to form communities of the mind and gives every body access to information that would have previously belonged only to a select few. The result of this has been giant leaps in technological breakthroughs, huge advancements in quantum physics and a dazzling explosion of ideas. That is consciousness rising in my book and its already happening at an amazing rate since the availability of the internet and the great God Google. I worry that so many people are looking towards this particular date in the hopes or fears of what might happen that we’re less able to look at the time we are in now and see what is happening, what we are achieving and what we still need to be working on.

Blessings to you all. I love the earth and its creatures with all my heart, but, would be glad to give every thing I am to see a new healing. Unfortunatly, I am the 'middle child' of our billion+ population and dont have too much say. so as Louis says: 'que sera sera'. No fear felt at this time. Today is where I am and where I want to be. My head may be in the sand, but my ears are exposed.

Joan, I think you've hit a valid point there. Are we perhaps a little obsessed with knowing? Homosapiens are control freaks by nature. Perhaps we don't have to know because (and this is a little off-the-wall) perhaps we don't actually have to make the Universe function.

Two years and two months and counting. I'm not really counting. If the end comes, it will just be a new day, just a little more intense! "Que sera, sera, what ever will be, will be." More constant change.... a new incarnation.
