A very little about me

I am a man wandering through. My main role right now is father to two girls, and student of parenting. Beyond that I absorb what I can, where I can, and follow the core tenants found in most spiritual practices. My main guide is a question I ask myself throughout the day. How well do I love?

Practical applications for love 8-13-09

Anxiety is new to me. I am not sure why now, or why so intense. I can only guess, due to specific areas of growth in my life, that I am feeling some things that I have not allowed myself to feel in the past. These emotions have likely accumulated to the point that, once felt, it is a bit overwhelming, and overwhelmed I am. In the end this is only a guess, but the anxiety is here, and seems to be hanging on for a bit. Due to this hanging on aspect I have decided to try and allow it to be there,… Continue

Practical applications for Love 3-25-09

My youngest daughter turned 7 last Friday. Typically this is a time when her mother and I, though divorced, spend time in each other's presence in a most healthy way. This year though, my daughter wanted to have a sleep over. I began to feel a desire to question whether this was being steered in some way as the sleep over was, with each conversation, becoming more exclusionary to me attending any portion of the event. In the end, I was excluded all together from the event itself. The… Continue

Practical Applications for Love 3-16-09

This week I found myself several times wishing my boss would back off. See, my boss has tasked me with being his boss. Why, would anyone do that? Well, he realizes his value is in a base of knowledge he has. He also realizes that his ability to access and use this knowledge sometimes falls short of the mark. This shortcoming is due to a wildly active mind that does not operate in a linear manner. I am his linearity. We will often sit down and discuss a given problem for an hour or more, and my… Continue

Practical applications for love

Love is all there is. Even fear is defined from love. Without love fear could not exist, but love exists completely intact in the absence of fear. I can’t prove this, except to say there are examples throughout our history as a species of people that were able to emulate this. Love is the only self-sustaining force known. It does not need anything to be, it just is, and it is boundless. This begs the question, what role does love play in my life. In trying to answer this for myself I have come… Continue

The Tides of Life

At the beach when the tide is going out,
the waves recede and it seems
that nothing is happening in the sea.
But the truth is that the great swells
are gathering strength beneath the waters,
building energy for the time
the tide will return...

It's similar to times in our lives
when something we have depended on
is gone and we are left
with a feeling of emptiness and sadness.

At times like this we can take heart
Knowing that an unseen strength
is building within us.
And if we can only be patient
relying on a sure faith,
the tide of life will turn
and happiness and fulfillment
will once again return to us.

I don't know what the Lindel documentary is... the song, "Crazy Horse" is John Trudell's... though i would not be surprised that it might have been used in film. It's such a wonderfully poetic piece of music, delivered with John's distinctive bass voice. Best wishes to you and yours. Jeanne

Lee, I have found myself checking your page to read your blogs and I am missing them. I like what you write. Hope you are well, and as Jeanne said, that your absence is for positive reasons.

Stopping by to say "Hi". And hoping your absence is for all the right reasons... sun, fun, love and young men's fancies in the spring.

As perfectly near to perfection as the weather is usually, today it's all vacuum cleaner. So, I've got on James Taylor and am inspired to shower you with yesterday's Sunshine. "Your Smiling Face" made me think of you too (two!) Love, Erin

Sure Lee. I realize it's not really a discussion venue, but I hope that helps without being invasive. In future, for anything resembling stuff of a more personal nature I will just send via the email route. Have a nice day. Peace, Mike

Yes... another wave of colonialization, indeed. I'm going to use that. Thanks.
