The Smile Revolution

I wanted to share with all of you a project I started in 2005 on my Dad's death bed. He rarely smiled as he had a terrible tragedy as a child. The last time I saw my Dad conscious, he gave me a big grin. That smile changed my life. I was in the hospital with him in Florida. I left to go back to New York to do my one woman show for a film and before the film I was interviewed and out of my mouth came, "We need a Smile Revoltution on the planet". My Dad died a week later and the next time I saw… Continue

"Desiderata"

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in

silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than… Continue

Through Wheels of Evergreen - A Winter Solstice Blessings UK 2009

At this wonderful opportunistic moment…

As the shadows grow longer…

Know you are passing through this…. Beautiful.

See the things that have left your life, leaving space for things more appropriate to your growth… At this moment, know that your intentions have been to allow something better, a brighter tomorrow. Offering it up & out into the universe… to bring it forth to you in the coming months….

The old year has died… Continue

Treat Everyone As If they will be dead by Midnight

WORD FOR THE DAY(gratefulness.org)
Sunday, Dec. 20

Treat everyone you meet as if he or she were going to be dead by midnight.
Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster,
and do so with no thought of reward. Your life will never be the same.

Announcing the "Plant a Tree with Florence I.T. Every Hour" Campaign

The "Plant a Tree with Florence I.T. Every Hour" campaign for the month of December, 2009 is simple: Florence I.T. clients this month simply continue what they are doing already, using Florence I.T. for their I.T. support. For EVERY HOUR spent on services Florence I.T. will plant ONE TREE in the client's name. There is no limit, so prepayment of time may appeal to some clients if they wish to make a larger impact. "This is, quite simply, one more easy thing we can do." said President of… Continue

Joy - Pleasure

Joy - Infinite & Eternal

Pleasure - short-lasting - ephemeral

Joy - from Being

Pleasure - to escape, numb

Joy is the realization of oneness,
the oneness of our soul with supreme love.

Rabindrath Tagore

For happiness one needs security,
but joy can spring like a flower
even from the cliffs of despair

Season of Stories

"The universe is made of stories, not atoms." ~ Muriel Rukeyser

As we enter the year's prime shopping season, stores tend to replace stories as the gift source of choice. I grew up in Paramus, New Jersey, the shopping capital of the known universe, so I understand just how seductive — and soul diminishing — the material mindset can be.

Emerson said: "Rings and jewels are not gifts but apologies for gifts. The… Continue

Weekly Tidbit: Floyd and the Miracle

FLOYD AND THE MIRACLE

Some years ago enroute to Mt. Lassen on a horse camping trip with friends, our old truck began to lose power on the steeper sections of the road. The truck, known as Floyd, was soon struggling to keep speed even on the level surfaces and we had no choice but to pull over in a fairly large rest area. Despite our best attempts under the hood, we could not get Floyd to move at other than a snail's pace; no way he could pull the horse trailer to our mountain… Continue
