Happy Thanksgiving Day - Everyday!
WORD FOR THE DAY (gratefulness.org)
Thursday, Nov. 26
Everyday, think as you wake up:
Today I am fortunate to have woken up.
I am alive. I have a precious human life.
I am not going to waste it.
I am going to use all my energies to
develop myself to expand my heart out
to others for the benefit of all beings.
His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama

Happy Thanksgiving to all. For many of us, this has been a difficult year, as it was for the pilgrims depicted in the idyllic scene above. Yet we all have some reason to be thankful—a kind friend, a faithful pet, a family (even if they’re contentious), a small success, hope for the future, a happy memory—something. Be thankful… Continue
I love the name of tomorrow's holiday. The giving of thanks, to be grateful, to appreciate ... these have become powerful tools of transformation in my life. On their namesake day, I invite you to take some time to focus on what you can be grateful for in your life. Whether you do a list on paper or in your head, if you do it, it will make your day better. According to an article sent to me by a friend this morning, you will feel happier: "Research suggests that becoming more grateful could… Continue

The charge has been levelled against these times as apathetic and soulless.
I know there are rays of hope and a greater justification to do good deeds and live a meaningful life.
However, we are creatures ever drawn to laziness, emotional abandonment and lust (for all things).
Observe how even new born babies are brought into this world with their hands clenched and grabbing whereas a persons last movement before dying is to relinquish control by letting go of that… Continue

Maintaining harmony under all circumstances is the key to navigating through life. By remaining calm and composed in each moment, we keep life in perspective. We are able to connect with the bigger picture of potential while sorting out appropriate courses of action to address any situation before us. We can release our attachments and reactions knowing that they are only a small part of the experience. Harmony reveals the presence of love.
In the bosom of the Ocean, in the heart of Nature, the pulse of planet Earth, that which is the life support system of all that exists as we know it, wrapped in precious water, here I find God, Peace, Love, Joy, Wisdom and Truth.
I have a very special place on the planet - where I am right mow - where I feel connected. I feel this connection to 'place' in a way that is deeper than I can express. The birds I feed who give me the 'eye'; the animals who depend on me. My loved ones far away who want me near; I'm working on it...meanwhile I AM HERE NOW. The garden is dying but it is going inwards for winter and so must I. It will be here in the spring again. And, by some miracle, so might I...
1. Offer an ear. The greatest need most people have is to be heard. You can listen someone into healing just by being fully present to receive what they want to share. This is mutual gift giving.
2. Offer a hand. When you spot your elderly neighbor out raking leaves, wander over and ask to assist; suggest you need the exercise. He may be longing for someone to talk to, so you'll be a double dose of gratitude.… Continue

Thanksgiving is about food the way Christmas is about presents. In modern life, neither expresses the true spirit of the holiday — although the potential is there. Because at core level, the real issue is always love.
Is there enough love to go around? The answer is yes, and — we must awaken to this truth on… Continue

On the way to work, I think it was Monday (the days are a blur this week), we encountered a strange sight.
As is usually my routine---
I spent the entire time on the turnpike---
Slumped in the passenger seat--- praying.
I pray because it's one of the best time periods to do so, and it relaxes me.
I slump because should there be some God awful accident involving us---
I want to lessen my chances of decapitation.
“Everyone who follows the world’s curriculum, and everyone here does follow it until he changes his mind, teaches solely to convince himself that he is what he is not.” -A Course in Miracles
This ties up with another Course's lesson stating that I am what I teach. So if I teach separation I am separation, however, if I teach oneness, I am oneness. But how do I teach oneness when I am experiencing separation? The answer would be by denying the illusion. Denying the illusion is my… Continue

Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen… Continue

In the vastness of our consciousness, in the chaotic node of November 2009; here we can enjoy peace.
It was there that I came upon came upon Beach Buddy.
It wasn't actually anywhere in particular, he was over by the dining room table.
Of all the Transmutated Transitional Beings, the last one I expected to run into was Beach Buddy.
It shouldn't surprise me, we share this space in this reality, but it was the energy that I was feeling that surprised me.
Something made me grab my lap top, the intention to type all of what was about to take… Continue

Went for a walk in the Muir Woods National Monument last week. Those old growth redwood trees, many of which have been around for 2000 years, never let me down. My visits there are always sooo uplifting – humbling too.
This time though, I ”got” the humbling part.
We humans would probably agree that (by at least two important criteria ) a successful life would be one which comprises special stature and longevity. Measured by that standard these ancient giants are arguably… Continue

The holiday season at the end of the year has the potential to be a stressful time. Days are short with less light, expectations run rampant, and family of origin issues are stirred up. Most holidays are about rituals and many of us have decades of traditional imprints that are not pleasant. Since holidays were generally not fun in my childhood, as an adult I have chosen to re-organize how I celebrate this time of year. And celebration is a key word.
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." ~ Helen Keller
Though we live in an increasingly wireless world, most of us are hardwired to feel an impending sense of doom when a "deadline" looms: when we experience ourselves as being… Continue
